Without knowing your eyesight problems, here's my experience;
My distance vision is still OK - no prescription glasses required.
I do need reading glasses though -- presently a 2.5 reader.
Recently tried pistol shooting W/ iron sights like I used to do in my 30's (30 years ago) - couldn't see my sights. Tried my 2.5 readers - nope.
Had an eye exam, talked to the optometrest (SP)- she suggested a lower power "reader", which by nature, would have a longer focal length. Tried a 1.5 reader -- now I can see the sights clearly again.
I have a similar situation. I can see distance OK but need reading glasses (I wear progressives to work on the computer and read 2-1.5x). If i tried to wear those glasses at the range, I wouldnt be able to see the target! The other issue would be that when I shoot handguns, I use my left eye but when I shoot my AR, I use my right eye as it just feels wrong holding left handed and I am already not that good with it shooting it right handed so switching to left handed would KILL my game. It has been suggested I look into some kind of "shooters progressive lens" so I can see the far sight and the target.
My wife picked up some white and neon green nail polish so I gave that a try tonight. I managed to get some on the sights, some on my pants and some on the floor. Dam that stuff stinks!

Sorry, still not getting it. Why the white first followed by colour over top? Why not just put the colour straight on the sight? Is the white a different type of paint that adheres better?....acts as a primer?
If the fluorescent paint does not have white enamel under it, the red will not pop. It looks blah.

Nice paint job! How did you keep the black rim around the outside? I had enough trouble trying to mask off the barrel so i didnt get paint on that!
There is a cavity milled in there, with a raised edge. I just filled it with paint and then wiped away the paint on the lip.
