Greetings fellow firearms owners.

I need your assistance! I have been offered store credit to purchase a replacement of my ISSC mk22.

I purchased my ISSC 22 at the end of September. First mag in resulted in FTS & FTE issues. Had to go back to the distributer and they confirmed the issues. It is currently still being serviced by them.

Since they've had it longer than I have the store said they'd do me a solid and let me pick up a replacement but, since my confidence in the ISSC has been shattered I don't want to get the same one.

The associate suggested I purchase a GSG-15 as it's is serviced by another distributor that's faster and better with customer service. I suggested the Anschutz RX22, but that is serviced by the ISSC distributor so if anything goes wrong I'm back at square 1 (that is, IF anything goes wrong).

What should I get? Is there another .22 semi automatic out there with 20+ round mags and rail options?

Help. I promised a decision in 24 hrs. Both the GSG & Anschutz need to be special ordered.

I just saw the Anshutz yesterday. .. other than a 10 round magazine what is the difference between it and the GSG15? I have a black GSG 15 and it is a very fun plinking gun at the range. Pretty accurate out to 100m. I have a 1-4x30 norinco scope on it and it's enough to get the job done. The stock sights with the GSG15 are junk.

I had FTF FTE issues with my GSG15 solutions and I have had a very reliable gun since.
- carefully load magazines so rounds are even and tap them with the back of your hand military style before loading
- do not approach the gun with Remington Thunderbolt 1 in 6 rounds stick in the chamber from several attempts
- high velocity ammo only standard does not have enough power to cycle the action
- rifle smoothed out after 100 or so rounds fired. Still hates Remington lol but with even federal automatch it throws tennis ball groups for essentially anyone at 50m and better with good ammo out to 100m

All of my new firearms he required a break in period. My CZ pistol is getting more accurate I swear it's not me. Also my 527 would literally pop rounds 2 thru 4 in the air out of the chamber when cycling and it would scrape the bolt on to the lips of the magazine. Some home gunsmithing, cleaning and cycling for a few hours made it into a sweet little shooter. Groups went from watermelon spreads at 10 o'clock to shouldered 2 inch quickfire groups standing at 100m (last 5 shots before I went hunting). I have learned not to hate them right way but to give a new gun some time before I judge it. Old guns well there just better and we'll all know it.

Thank you for the review and reply I appreciate it.

I didn't stop at one mag. I went on to try quite a few other brands such as Winchester, CCI & Federal.

Predictably the CCI was the best, but even it had a few issues.

From what I understand the Anschutz has a match grade barrel but that's it?

I am considering going for the GSG-15 based on what youand the store associate said.

Decisions, decisions lol!

Can anyone else chime in?

Is there a better semi auto .22lr firearm out there? (I wish I could get the Walther HK G36 .22lr).

Should I keep my old ISSC mk22? (now being serviced).

I believe frontier has RUGER Sr22's for $640-700. Solid guns. I have no experience with the three guns that you asked about above. But two thumbs up for the SR22. maybe if your dealer sells Ruger they can price match the other dealer.

Thank you for the info Hitman I'll look into it.

I'm looking for a semi that's non-restricted.

Hopefully this is.

A few of the guys at my Club (SGC) have purchased the Anschutz RX22 & are very pleased with these rifles.

Personally in a semi auto .22 I prefer my modified 10/22 but that is just me. :)

I was leaning towards the SR22. Any good? Its non-restricted, right? If so, I can learn to live with the 10 round mags

I am one of the Anschutz MSR owners referred to by Rod and I also had an earlier MSR, ISSC and a STG44 Schmeisser and can honestly say I experienced none of the problems that others have with any of these rifles. I was surprised how well the STG performed and could rely on it to empty the mag without any FTF/FTE. I sold it to buy the MSR as it’s a lot more ‘user friendly’ when shooting from the bench and also surprisingly accurate when it has a good scope on top. I never use Winchester or Remington ammo in any of my 22s but have found Federal 510 or CCI to be the best of the high velocity rounds for accuracy and function in an auto loader. The Anschutz also functions well with target quality ammo such as Eley and RWS.As has already been stated, take care when loading the 10 & 22 round mags to ensure the rounds are seated well in the mag before inserting in the rifle.

Thank you for the reply Digaf.

I'm certain I'm just unlucky in that regard. The distributor's gunsmith confirmed the failures in the weapon and whenever I'd load the magazine I'd ensure the cartridge positioning by gently pulling the spring at an angle while inserting. I'd also insert max 15-17 rounds. I guess I got a bad piece.

I'll pull the trigger on the Anschutz. Are the mags compatible I can't recall. Is there anything else you can tell me about it?

Yes, I believe the ISSC mags fit the Anschutz. As I stated, I owned an earlier Anschutz with the folding stock and was 100% happy with function and accuracy. However, I sold it on and then purchased an ISSC from IRUNGUNS, mainly because the price was so good. Had that for a few months and shot it with no problems but sold it to a guy in the club as his son was looking for one. He shoots it now and is happy with it. A few weeks ago I got the GSG15 in a deal involving a couple of centre fire rifles and was interested to see how it performed. The answer was, GREAT, but they are not user friendly for shooting from the bench so that went to a new home and I got a good deal on a new Anschutz.MSR with 10 and 22 round mags and mounted the Nikon 3x on top. The result is a fun, accurate, great functioning rifle. My advice to you, if you do decide on the Anschutz, is to throw the open sights supplied with the rifle into a drawer and mount a scope but above all, don’t use crap ammo in it and it should repay you with a lot of pleasurable shooting.!!!

I already tried but they said the distributor had none left with no plans to import.

IRUNGUNS has the last of whatever stock is left, since the US warehouses are bigger and they could grab some. North Sylva can't get any since it was discontinued before they got a shipment.

IRUNGUNS thread

EDIT: I didn't say anything earlier since I thought the price would be an issue as to why you aren't considering, 533 USD is a fair amount. They have a couple in their Canadian warehouse and they said on page 10 they hope to get them shipped out before christmas if you order them.

Hey ChillyRabbit. Thanks for the reply. I definitely would like to get the G36 22lr but I got store credit and not a refund.

It's 500 plus tax so I want to use it for sure. Perhaps if I buy a higher caliber here I can go pick up the G36.

Makes sense brother thank you for spending the time to provide me this information. I really appreciate it

Ah didn't realize it was store credit not a refund, well the option is still on the table if you want to go put down cash since it is out of production.

I know I'm so tempted, but I fear the wife would find out and destroy me lol.

I would most likely have to wait until the new year. Spent too much this season
