Any Ithaca 37 Love in Here?

I have a few Ithaca M37/M87s. If the shotgun came with the 'slamfire' feature I just noted it.
Many of my Ithacas (esp. M87s) do not 'slamfire' but I have a few M37s and M87s that have the interrupter trigger group as well.

But the newest Ithaca's (IE; M37 28 gauge and M37 12 gauge Waterfowler) do not 'slamfire' henceforth are called the standard trigger.
 
Gorgeous guns, a friend has a deerslayer. If he ever decides to sell it I will snap it up, I thought my Fabarm was light and easy to point till I shouldered his Ithaca. What a nice shotgun.
 
I have a model 37 that is in excellent condition given to me by my Father in law about 25 years ago. I am almost ashamed to say this but I have not even shot the gun yet. I figure it was made in the late 1960's or early 1970's. How does a person go about finding out year of manufacture?

After reading all the threads about how smooth the action is (and the slam fire) I am going to make sure I take the gun out for a gravel pit work out and some grouse hunting for sure.
 
That is a Beautiful model 37, what is that an 18.5 inch barrel ? and I like the look of the older corn cob for end. they have a very smooth action .
 
Bought one for the wife in 20ga a couple of years ago. It has the "ladies stock" on it so it feels weird for me to shoot but beautifull little gun.
It does suffer from light primer strikes occasionally though.
Has anyone else seen this? The last time out we had maybe 1 in 10 that wouldn't go bang. Almost looked like the primers in the shells were seated deeper than others and the fireing pin just barely touched them.
Put the misfired shells in me stoeger and they all went bang.
 
Still my favorite pump, nothing else fits me better nor is easier to operate.

I've never had a light strike with mine ever. I would try some other shells and if it still happens then I would order a stronger hammer spring. - a new one if the gun is well used.
 
I mentioned it before a while back but the new Ithaca company is making their Model 37 Defense with a removable barrel again.

They're not cheap mind you, but the quality is comparable to "tuner" pump offerings like Tac Ord or the Fabarm STF-12 IMO.

I came this close to buying one but they didn't want to offer one with removable choke tubes, so I passed. I might reconsider in the future however.

The 37 is gaining some ground again. Interested to see if they bring anything to the table next week.

There is, but I forget who it is and can't access my email where it was mentioned.

Slam fire stopped offically being offered in 1976 IIRC, although some later guns seemingly have it if reviews are anything to go by.
 
Another thread got me thinking. Any new Ithaca 37 love out there?

Though I love a good riot gun, the Upland/Waterfowl season sure does get me thinking of blued steel and wood.
 
Have a 50's vintage 37/20ga that is a joy to carry for upland and a minty early 70's 12ga/20 inch Deerslayer Deluxe smoothbore with mod choke as I measure it. Intend to use it on grouse and pushy bears if necessary.
