So, is anyone from any province other than Ontario going to the world championships?

Does anyone out there even actually use all the fancy shiny gear they buy or is it just used as a conversation piece at the range?

I pretty much know the answer to these questions, but hope to be surprised.

There's at least one guy in SK interested in going.

Good to hear. Hopefully that person comes, and brings a few friends.

Politics at play again?

Don't think politics has anything to do with it.

Its possible that most shooters out there are all show and no go.
Or maybe all the sponsored pro shooters in Canada can't get their many sponsors to foot the bill to get them to France?
Or they fear that even though they "dominate" at the local range, they won't even be 50% at the world level and can't stomach the backlash from all their groupies?

Many theories being tossed around.
Its a mystery, just like how they get the caramel in the Caramilk bar.

That's no mystery...

pauls... I would love to go to France/Ireland etc... I wouldn't make it to 25% within the pool/caliber of shooters there, but I wouldn't care. It would be a great trip.

What stops me is simply the basic life stuff... Money/Time/Work/Family/
One sure thing though is... "if" I were to go there's absolutely zero chance of someone puking in/all over my truck.

Lol so using all that "fancy shiny" gear at local competitions is not acceptable? It's only being used if one were to take it to the world championships in France?

I'm just asking who's coming to France.
I've never even heard of an actual shotgun match taking place outside of Ontario so I'm genuinely interested.
So far, its maybe someone from SK

Also, if your equipment is still shiny, it really hasn't been used...

True... I'm always suspicious of tales if glory coming from guys with pristine guns... Most active competitors I know have guns marred with scars...

Perhaps some further information might be useful.

For example; How would someone even sign up for such an event?

Main match website.

General overview:
A World Shoot is a Level 5 IPSC match, happens every 3 years.
Consists of 30 stages shot over 5 days. You shoot 6 stages a day, half days of competing.
Taking place at the same range where the handgun world shoot took place earlier this year.

The IPSC Canada Regional director would have reached out to the section coordinator of each province, and in turn they should have spoken to their members to let them know about the match.
Here in Ontario, the SC posted about it on the IPSC Ontario forum.

Registration for the match will happen shortly, and the RD will likely be taking names and match fee payment sometime in January.
If you are interested in going, let either your Section Coordinator or the Regional Director know.

Thanks for posting the info.

I'm sure there's a lot of guys who never even heard of this match until now.

Not everyone is on the IPSC forum. Plenty aren't even IPSC members.

I'm hoping to go, had fun shooting shotgun matches in Germany and Czech this past summer and did reasonably good considering I'd never done it before, 60% and then 67% against the current world champ, using gear I'd never touched before, let alone a type of ISPC I'd never shot before. I also know the range and town for the World Shoot as I've now shot two matches there this past summer as well, French Nationals and Handgun World Shoot.

"That may be a slight problem"

I'm sure a motivated person could get signed up before next summer.

Perhaps this thread will motivate a few people to jump through the hoops to be able to shoot the match.

The more people who know about it, the better chance of that happening.

Thanks. The more info the better.

I haven't seen anything about qualifications for this event.
Is there some minimum standard you'd need to meet before being eligible?

Or is it completely open to anyone who wants to try?

Qualifications... Have gear, have lots of money for the trip and grab one of the 38 slots Canada has. I highly doubt we will find 38 people who are willing to go so I doubt there will be much more than that.
