Hey HK gurus,
Need help here. Shot my USP .40 today. Gun started acting up. It's a Variant 1 with the decocker and safety.
The hammer would come down after cycling kinda like a DAO gun, but the trigger can't be pulled, like the gun was on safe. It would do it sporadically. The hammer would #### for some shots and fall on others.
Took the gun home to clean. And this part fell out of the trigger assembly!

Looked up the HK manual but the drawings were indistinct. You can see the bottom is broken. Is this the disconnector? It’s listed as part #28 on some exploded drawings of the gun.

Where do I find this part in Canada? Who services HK?
Help!!!

Thanks all!

I believe North Sylva is the only game in town for HK parts. HK USA has a strict no shipping out of country policy.

Hopefully someone comes though with a domestic source. Unfortunately looks like they are out of stock at Brownells and Numrich - both of which ship to Canada. If you are in a pinch, HKParts.net will export through IRGs.

Dawg! You da man!!
I’ll call them tomorrow! Hopefully a US$9 part won’t become $60 in Canada!!

If anyone else knows of a domestic source for the spring, please let me know before tomorrow!

Thanks again G!

Well, hopefully a better option presents itself. Could be a pricey and convoluted process between HKParts and IRG.

That’s what I was afraid of! Not to mention long!

I’ve never dealt with Brownells or Numrich. This is the first gun that’s ever broken for me! And it had to be a HK! Can I go on an order/ wait list from them or are they limited to ( no) stock on hand?
Sounds like this spring shouldn’t be an uncommon part.

Definitely shouldn't be that uncommon so hopefully you can find it here. Maybe NS has one handy and will send it in a few days! I've bought HK stuff from Numrich without issue in the past but to rkm's point, looks like Brownells say they won't ship that part out of US. Good luck

Thanks G! Always appreciate your insight! I’ll try both NS and Numrich tomorrow.
And Merry Xmas to you and yours.

brownells might have that part, it will be cheaper and faster to have it shipped from them.

That’s what gdawg said too. Does the flat spring engage something on the frame? I’m worried that something else came apart in the frame that allowed the spring to just fall out.
Anyone got a link as to how to take apart and put back the trigger and safety assembly on a USP?

Youtube! Why didn’t I think of it!

Thanks for the help skyline! I love CGN!

He also has a reassembly video. Hopefully it helps with additional troubleshooting. Odds are it's just the Flat spring. Make sure your trigger return spring is in good order, you might want to replace that if it's getting long in the tooth.

I bought some of these from Durham Outdoors earlier this year. They probably have more.

The trigger return spring is very easy to loose. If you loose your grip on it while trying to install it will launch. I may have done this before,...maybe twice. I started turning a cardboard box on its side and doing the work inside the box so if the spring launches it just stays inside the box.

Hey Still Alive.
That is your sear spring and I have never seen one break before. Parts from NS will take 6 months to arrive if you are lucky. I have a couple spares and will send you one to get you back up and operational. GDawg knows me. Send me a PM with your contact details and we can get this solved for you. The replacement is this.
