Need some ideas from the reloading pros.

That bench would never work for me, it's so pretty I'd be afraid to use it.

I'm in the process of moving my reloading set up from the basement into the garage. I'm renovating and segregating 1 entire bay of our 3 bay garage to be a heated reloading/gun tinkering/work shop. Hope to have it done before spring and the wife hopes to have it done before Christmas. :)
 
Made the doors today, didnt have much time so I just made some raised panels, and gave the lower its first coat of paint.

Heading to lee valley fo some hinges :)

Man alive, you guys have some great ideas and skills. Thanks for posting the pics. A friend was moving into much smaller quarters and gave me a reloading table and cabinets that his Dad and he built. He just wants to be able to use it once in a while. I'll try to post some before, during and after pics when - WHEN - I get it into my shop.

Keep the ideas coming! :)
 
Didn't read all the responses as there are a lot, but I reload a fair amount, for myself and others.

I find that using two separate benches that are adjacent to each other works best. Having the scale and cleaning station on one, and the press and bullets on the other, because rather then walking back and forth on a long table, you just simply turn 90 deg, and as you are pushing bullets/primers in, you are not disturbing the scale as it is weighing/metering.
An make sure the press table is fixed down or to a wall, or you are gonna be annoyed with your press moving the whole table.
Don't listen to guys saying you need all kinds of fancy presses, I push in a lot of bullets and it doesn't take long, once you get a good rhythm going you'll be saving big bucks in no time.
 
Just throwing this out there as an alternative for those looking for ideas. I tend to build my work benches with galvanized (no rust issues ) 20 gauge sheet metal tops. Usually bent to my specs by the nearest sheet metal shop that supplies it and fit so that fasteners are not required. No finishing, cleans easy and doesn’t care how much gun cleaner you spray on it... lol.

I think I’ll be re-tasking this one as my first loading bench in the new year. This shooting thing is turning out to be waaay too much fun ! Feed the beast !

But it has no "ledge" on it to stop all those "rolly things, brass, primers, bullets etc." associated with reloading from ending up on the floor. It only takes a 1/8 " lip and in your case a length of 1/8 x1" angle aluminum screwed down and your golden for a reloading bench.

I actually do the same, I just use flat galvanized sheet, rather then checkerplate, for flat surface, clean and good to hit stuff on even
 
I think ill get a piece of 3/4 Lexan and router a groove all around it in case stuff rolls off.

Will also protect my Top :)
 
Well got it home. Need to find myself a nice Vise since the one I have is way to big for nothing.

Still waiting on my Carbon fiber inserts.

dilligaf, where did you find the rails for hanging the yellow bins? I have a ton of them but can't seem to find the rails used with them....any ideas appreciated!

My two cents on building a bench if you're just getting going reloading.....make it twice as big as you think you need!

Ok, now you're just showing off!

Very nice work on both jobs. Certainly head and shoulders above my 2x10 constructed bench with 4x4 posts for legs. Strong but (butt) ugly. And if y'all have the same sense of humor as mine, that last comment could be expanded on and get one banned.
