Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

I’m going to wait just a wee bit
But I think it’s going to be nice to hunt with one of those
It’s about time
And I think building my own is going to be fun
Cheers people

Can't wait to get mine! Ordered the first day so hopping I'm high on the list. Offering reciever only option is smart. They will be able to concentrate on machining upper and lower and getting them out to customers. I'm guessing they do not have man power to keep up with assembly. People don't want to wait 6 months between limited runs. Getting bogged down in assembling is a mistake. Sell receivers asap and if the purchaser can't assemble themselfs they can have a gun smith put it together for them or one of the many retailers. Just my 2 cents.

Pardon? Did we not here this song about another rifle and now this one is also to expensive? Sheesh we have a fickle crowd.

Relax that doesnt mean I am not buying it, I didnt know about this until recently. So right now I'm waiting for the next time I can order. Currently waiting on a BCL102 gen 2.
I said if only because thats what I'd prefer.

Lol @ magwell cut. Seriously small aesthetic there to complain about. If this gun functions and is reliable as a mid level AR not much to complain about on a price front. I’ll be into mine for about $1500-$1600. Not too long ago you had to spend that for an AR. Seems smart to support innovative Canadian companies.

Yeah I agree about the Magwell cut.
I think the a2 style builds might look little off... but the custom AR look will definitely be there

Assuming the Maccabee takes any and all AR parts, could I just replace the upper and just have the lower for a NR build? Forgive me if I'm ignorant, but it's the lower that is deemed NR or R correct?

The upper and lower are both proprietary, including how they mate together. Not compatible with standard AR uppers.

They say most triggers will fit aside from drop in units. From what I know, everything else is compatible with the AR platform.

This is my impression as well. There's also things you obviously don't need, like takedown pins and such that are needed for the way a standard AR receiver separates. You'll have some parts left over from a standard AR LPK. Incidentally, TNA is offering an SLR specific LPK for a little cheaper, that omits the parts you don't need.

Convenient, as I just bought a Geissele S3G trigger for my cheapo M&P, but I think it will be much more at home in the SLR :)

The RCMP will not allow any AR upper to be compatible with a non-AR lower or vice versa and if they can couple the firearm will be deemed a Variant.

The Ares Defence SCR is an example of this silly predicament.

Thank you for further clarification!

Many times, I believe the term was the RCMP "strongly encouraged" not using qd pins.

The upper could slide into the lower and use one vertical pin to hold it all together, no? Or is that how the Modern Varminter works? I'm not 100% up to speed on the technical features of these non-AR black rifles. It's hard to find detailed photos online.

I didn't design the receiver set or have any part other than here's my money I want a set when it comes out. I want you to read the post you replied to carefully. To my undestanding that's the reasoning.

Has anything else been said about the takedown bolt? I'd like to see a retained pin similar to an AR vs a threaded bolt that will need a tool to take down.
Using a tool to prevent quick access to the FCG was seen as a positive step by the RCMP. This is a small detail to the shooting public.
