What's up with Vortex scopes?

I have a number of Vortex scopes and I have been satisfied with them. The only issue I had was with the rheostat on one which Vortex fixed. I think the reason that you see people complaining about them is that there are a lot of Vortex scopes sold and as such there is the potential for more people to complain. I also think that because of this a lot of their scopes get abused and in this regard I see that Vortex is now warning about over tightening scope rings, since this leads to damaging the scopes. One alternative to Vortex scopes that I rarely see mentioned on CGN is Trijicon, since they offer both the AccuPoint and AccuPower scopes which are comparable priced to the Vortex PST scopes

PST Gen 2 is better than SHV and Sightron 111.

The PST has some nice features,Zero stop being one.
The SHV 5-20 was very good,as well.
My biggest dislike of the S111 ,was lack of a Zero stop.
Not my experience at all. I compared a gen 1, gen 2, and a sightron siii side by side at the same advertised magnification. The gen 2 was marginally better than the gen 1 and the sightron was marginally better than the gen 2. I don’t think the gen 2 is worth the price hike based on glass alone.

To my eyes, Vortex v. Sightron clarity was hands down in favor of the Sightron. For what I was building the rifle for the sightron was the clear choice. I also looked at the Nikon Black x1000 at the time, clarity wise I found it on par with the sightron, but I liked the Sightron reticule better so I went with it. The X1000 was about the same price as the Vortex HST I was looking at at the time.

I can see why they are popular, why they get purchased to begin with. I can also see why the people who buy them may find them lacking and move onto other products, resulting in a surplus of used scopes.

Better to fork out the little extra for the superior product rather than have to go back a second time. The 8-32x56 SIII I bought was about $450 more than the Viper and X1000 I was also looking at at the time, and the 6-24x56 SIII was a few hundred less than the 8-32.

The gen11 costs $1550.
The S111 costs $1550.
Both being FFP.
I found both scopes to be clear, but I based my decision on the fact that the Votec has a Zero stop

And though I found both scopes to have good clarity, I found the Gen 11, to be brighter, thereby giving it the edge.

So for same price,I think the Vortex wins:)
