What would make you quit hunting?

Death won't stop me:

Can't think of anything that won't eventually come. I get a big kick out the guys that bellyache about the cost of a deer licence. Same guys think nothing of staying drunk three days over a football game.

The invent of the ATV did it for me. Now any lazy bum can go back into the quiet of the bush with his noisy, stinkin' machine, and ruin the serenity I once had.

I share your sentiments. But I just resolved to become more fit so I can go farther on foot than they can on infernal combustion machines. That and seeking out areas with limitations on OHV's. Then I can ride my mountain bike on the access road in silence. Luckily I'm still young and fit. Maybe I'll have to buy a float plane when I'm old and stiff.

I have been losing interest the past few seasons. I was never a big game hunter though I have always had a big game rifle and bought and applied for tags just in case I decided to go. I have shot one deer in my life and it did nothing to make me want to continue each year. This past fall was the first time since age 15 I haven’t hunted waterfowl, never even bought a migratory permit and ended up selling my layout blinds, all my Canada decoys and 1/3 of my snow spread. Will probably sell the rest this year. Bought a provincial bird license and went once all season. Funny I contacted a member on here today to help me with a value on my big game rifle as I never use it and would sooner put the money into my new fishing rig. All that said I’ll still keep a few guns for the occasional hunt and of course my trap and skeet guns but I am at a point I can easily skip hunting and stick primarily to fishing.

I am a hardcore waterfowler and I am at my wits end.

Duck Dynasty has ruined it for all. A few "young bucks" watch the show which and believe their comical shenanigans is how it actually is. I have properties that I have scout/hunted for nearly 2 decades and built relationships with the owners. This year was the worst with dealing with trespassers, poachers and overall jealous hunters. It got so bad that many of the birds just left due to extreme pressure. My "honey" hole got shut down as the landowner had to call the OPP on two groups (Non of which had permission!!!) got into a first fight 30min before legal shooting.

I have since purchased a duck boat and hunted big water for divers. I dumped a #### ton of money but thus far, haven't had any issues like above. Here's hoping it continues!

I highly doubt that you can pin the blame on Duck Dynasty...

Nothing. I will stop hunting when I am no longer physically capable to do so.

Hopefully, when I'm old and crippled my kids will bring me out hunting.

Everyone of us will quit at some time, health alone will do that. I have a quad, but it's only used for packing game out, otherwise I walk in and out.i remember one time when I got up well before daylight, walked in and a couple of noisy bikes came roaring up the road and passed me....I just turned around and same back, never went back to that spot again.Same went for a river we drifted, last time there was about six jet boats running up and down the river. That river had been very productive, but we never saw a moose again,we just packed up and haven't been back.Thats just not the 'wilderness experiance ' we drove 32 hours to get to...

Many of conversations has occurred in the duck blind and boat. It just seems that the overall "new hunter" reflects the practices observed within the television program.

It is meant strictly as entertainment, yet many have taken it as common practice. I could write a book with the stuff I have seen in public marshes the past 3-4 seasons.

I know everybody claims to be 'law abiding' ,' responsible' and 'ethical' 'but we as hunters can do a lot to clean up our image...a little good manners goes a long way...I know of two long time hunters who gave up this year, although in their cases it was loss of hunting partners
