I don’t agree. There are plenty of stickies in the MBR section by the likes of Barney and Skullboy who filled pages after pages with useful info. They didn’t find it necessary to jeer or call people down.
.
I only call it how I see it and have consistantly done that since I joined here. I've taken as much time if not more to type in depth hands on advice on these rifles and very little of that was ever put in the stickies..... why it that? EGOS is why.... and the fact that barney and skullboy were the MODS here and in control of those stickies and had to protect thier rep and Egos. When skullboy realized I wasn't going anywhere and that my advice couldn't be argued.... he took his toys and stopped contributing..... whatever.... that's how it came across to me. So all these years I've been here, few breaks now and then, I've contributed so much information that when i see threads like this with the responses with bad advice.... Well.... some one has to be that guy. I could care less if people think I'm an azzhole, I have zero ego to protect and this place is most certainly not my peer group and never has been.... so other than a solid EE reputation..... I do not seek to build any reputation. So this allows me to speak my mind, how I see fit, about a topic that I am intimately familiar with..... the M14 type rifle.
So like it or not..... I will drop my information/advice where i see fit and if you don't like it..... Well I can't help or please everyone. I am jaded because of the way I have been treated and dealt with by some respected members in our little community here and I've come to no longer care , which allows me to be my good ol colorful self.
those here that have actually met me and spent time with me and thier rifles..... they get it. And I usually never turn down trying to help those who take the time to message me with questions and advice even though my shop is closed to them.
My frustration with threads like this is that a guy has an obvious issue that us experienced folks haven't seen too often in the hay day years of this rifle here and leads us to believe it's a faulty product. So folks here suggest spending money on a bolt and carry on and this is not right. Hold the industry accountable for this crap is the correct answer.
I've worked retail, sports fishing, up the pole to head manager of steveston marine's 3 stores as head manager and purchasing agent. I know all about import/export/dealer warrant/wholesaler warranty ect ect ect. I've had many dealings for several years with north sylvia, bell lifestyle, Worldwide distributing, redl sports, inland sports and I could go on.... I know how these folks operate and the discretion availlable at the retail level for warranty issues. Store policy can often get in the way of what could and should be quick and painless.
So when I respond to this thread that experience, along with my experience with the m14 rifles..... makes me frustrated that good people are spending good money on a rifle that vendors are still using the hype to sell. They are also raising the price based on the popularity and i suppose everything goes up...
So I think if anything, this thread has taught me that I need to find other avenues of entertainment and stop feeling the need to offer the solidest advice you will find on this platform.
If I was a fraud, another keyboard gunsmith..... if my stocks sucked azz and were failing..... we would all know about here on cgn..... but yet here I am after all these years.......
