IPSC Site SO SLOW

There are few things omitted from this description.

* There wasn't one person working on Ontario web site. There was a team

* The team was providing a 7/24 service to run, maintain and support online system. Volunteering their time and expertise to the organization

* The whole team stepped down when board wanted Person A out

* For the last 2 years, the same team has been offering IPSC Ontario to get the web site fixed (rough estimate is about few weeks to get it running well) and then maintain in a proper order as a service provided to organization under a proper contract for both parties. Up to now board of directors haven't got back to us on this offer

Kind of like a 'once bitten twice shy' sort of situation ??

We are way past the point when it is like "if you are not part of the solution - you are part of the problem".

Anyone, including you, have any doubts this team would quickly fix the current situation for the benefit of membership of the whole section?

I have no doubts whatsoever that "this team would quickly fix the current situation". I also have no doubts whatsoever that the board had good and valid reasons for their original, and ongoing, decision to exclude you and your team.

Maybe board reasons are good for the board. But they are clearly been hurting and sabotaging entire membership by not resolving issue by doing what it takes.

I started a couple of threads on the IPSC Ontario forum (you have to log in to see them):

Some good info there to guide you when casting your vote.

My last post pretty much sums it up as I see it:

I've done a bit of digging and see three options to fix this mess:

I've had an email conversation with ######, he states he has contacted the Board offering to help but has been ignored. If the Board reached out to him I think a deal could be made to fix and maintain the existing site, the costs for which are to be determined. This of course leaves ###### with the source code so any future developments/maintenance would have to be done by him.

I have been in touch with a software developer and a ballpark figure to start from scratch would be $40-$50K. For that price IPSC Ontario would own the source code and the IP so we ourselves could maintain/add to it as needed down the road. There would be no annual maintenance fees, just an hourly rate if needed. Hosting fees would be extra of course.

Use Practiscore for match sign up and leave the website as is or re-build it for stat keeping, public information etc. I haven't been able to find much info on this option but I'm told it has limitations such as no waiting list and privacy concerns to name a few.

I'm sure this will not be addressed until the new Board comes in Feb 24th but after that date we should expect to see some progress on this. With over 1800 members and $180,000 in the bank we certainly deserve better than what we have today.

It is real easy to hit someone who won't hit back. Unlike some, the board is showing some class.

The board had more than two years to show something to the members. They showed nothing. Nothing at all. Your attempts to play with words are rather pathetic. Part of the problem.

The members of the board that I have spoken with will not reveal the reason(s) for your forced disassociation. I strongly suspect this is almost entirely for your benefit and to forestall a lengthy "he sayed she sayed" go around. Also, all the board members with whom I have interacted possess a high degree of integrity. The members of this board for the most part have the well being of IPSC Ontario drive their actions. You, on the other hand . . .

Intewhat? It mean nothing to the membership when a given issue is not being addressed for years. Board members must serve for the interest of entire membership. Besides, ability to recognize problem and be able to admit being unable to serve their members, and letting someone do it who could, would have been part of the solution.

A current member of this board feels he has the skills to "make it work"... several years later it still isn't working. Your implying that it's not a problem with the board but more a problem with EK is pure ignorance of the facts. EK has made offers to the board which have been declined because another member of the board said he could do it, but apparently he can't.

As you are privy to what goes on at board meetings, including 'in camera' meetings, please do tell. Better yet, if you have copies of pertinent minutes please post them so the rest of us can move beyond our 'pure ignorance of the facts'.

I never said that I was privy to anything. What I do know who is working on what. I understand everything from a technical point of view that is and was happening and from a common sense point of view, what I say is correct. A.S. has been working on all of this for years now, continually assuring the board that he can handle it, unfortunately he can't. It's time for him to step aside and let the professionals (Either Euxx and team, or another third party) take over and fix it. The offer from Euxx has always been there but the BoD keeps deciding they don't need/want him for whatever reason. I never said I knew the reason but I do know the offer has been made. If the BoD wanted to get this fixed they would have brought Euxx back in to fix it instead of letting personal feelings get in the way.

Tell me I am wrong.

I just hope either euxx fixes it or we get a whole new site and no more bandaid fixes.
The sooner we get it resolved, the sooner we can put it all behind us and move on to other things (like shooting)

Get back to shooting, ya wright, when this crisis is over there is always another in the wings.

We want to go shoot, but we all have to sit in front of the broken web site. The web site is the only thing that IPSC Ontario currently offering its members for their annual membership, besides an one-time engraved black badge pin.

We used to have annual renewal mailing, plastic membership cards and sitrep paper magazine. All gone now. The board had increased to 7 members now, but member services keep decreasing since 2008.
