Poll: knife carrying

Yes. If I leave the house I have a knife on my belt. Mainly for cigars but always handy. Opening watchcases, stripping wire, opening packages, mail, removing wiper blades, prying jar lids, making breather holes in cans.......

Used to pack a CRKT heiho, loved that knife but broke the pocket clip and can't seem to get a replacement. Very unobtrusive and one of my favorite blade profiles to date.
I bet if you contact CRKT they will help you out. Worth a try at least.

I carry a knife everyday now that I'm not flying commercially. And there is one in my truck, car, dirt bike gear etc.......
Why, because I can and I like to have a knife handy for little jobs.

Uisge....I received a new pocket clip for my Heiho within 10 business days after sending CRKT an email. Mine wasn't even broken.

Yes, I pocket a knife (Heiho now) everyday. Useful tool at work and for play. I miss it more than forgetting my cell phone.....

Yes. Folding semi serrated blade clipped in left pocket. Pilot once told me that semi serrated blade would cut through web belts and straight would not. One plane crash later sure enough I was using it to cut my way out with it. Always carry on your weak side as your strong hand will likely be dealing with whatever threat you are facing.

And it's amazing how many times a day I use it for something.

I have to say I don't necessarily agree with this statement. If you are being attacked by a dog/wolf/or whatever animal, feed it your weak arm and use your knife to rip its guts out with your strong arm.

I carry a Leatherman Wave every day and on occasion a folder with a pocket clip, only on my dominant side.

Totally disagree with the weak side argument as well. Strong side has all the fine motor skills (deploying the knife and using it properly) while your weak arm has your gross motor skills, to protect yourself.

I'm a fan of both the Rat 1 & Rat 2. Excellent value. One or the other is always on me. I'm thinking of upgrading to a ZT 562cf or another ZT but hard to justify when the Ontario series works so well.
Use a Mora Craftline Pro Stainless for the toolbox. Beat on this thing with a hammer and she has never complained.
Carry Mora companion and a SOG Seal Pup Elite in the bush. Bought a mora classic for xmas but have yet to use it.
For overnight camping usually take a gransfor bruks small forest axe & a Cold steel Spretzatch shovel. That shovel is great for the fire & latrine duty and for some fun throwing.
Also have one of the greatest bush carry tools ever on my belt; the silky pocketboy. Needed a custom sheath though...

Perhaps I have a knife addiction problem... Got a pocket chainsaw on order....
what was the original question?

I always have a knife on me and a flashlight 95% of the time. I go as far as having something like a Spyderco Chaparral or a Sog Access Card for when I have to wear a suit for something, you have no idea how many times a knife has made life so much easier. I don't know why anyone would chose not to carry one, I definitely feel weird and a little lost if I forget to put one in my pocket in the morning

I've carried a knife my whole life. Why? Because it's handy to be able to cut stuff, and because I can.

I enjoyed flying with my knife over Xmas for the 1st time since 9/11. I used it to cut my sandwich in half since the people at Tim Hortons seem unable to cut all the way through.

when you need a pen, nothing but a pen will do, when you need a knife, nothing but a knife will do. if you treat your tools right, they will take care of you.

Maybe the answer is to carry on your belt or waistband, on the front, somewhere between the hips. Should be available to both hands in some fashion that way.
