Glock Gen 5s mismatched flawed frame/slide, buy now? or..........

That's why smith has attempted to copy the design what... 3 times now? The m&p lost out horribly to Glock in the FBI trials and quite frankly has been behind since day one..

and yet M&P's are nicer.
strange.

im not going to lie, ive been waiting to use this on ya!

Hey now, it only took Glock 2 more generations to almost catch up to the features of an M&P1.0. In 3 more generations of Glock perfection they'll offer the same features as the M&P2.0.

Glocks are good pistols but they aren't even close to being competitive. M&P2.0, FN 509, CZ, and Sig are all cheaper and offer the same , or more, features.

The Glock fanboyism almost makes me want to be a Glock hater, even though I like them.

My M2.0 is excellent. Far better than the first gen and much more affordable than a Glock with the same feature set indeed. Trigger is not as crisp but that's not a big deal to me.

Frankly I think the PPQ is the best striker gun out right now.

It comes down in the end to what works for you,, I would still take my Gen3 19 over the M&P 2.0 simply because I shoot it better, even though I think the M&P is a better looking handgun and probably a better deal. I love the idea of more functions, but reality to me is when it comes out of the holster into my hand the Glock just works better for me
This is from a guy who thinks the M&P 2.0 in FDE is one of the nicest pistols I have ever seen lol, love the look of that gun

Down here I've seen the M&P2.0 as low as $369 and I haven't seen the Glock for less that $540.....

.....these should of never left the factory like this in my opinion....what is your guys take on this? Will you still buy knowing this or wait for a matching one? top picture frame/slide beveling correct at muzzle..bottom incorrect

Buy it. Shoot it.

Why would you worry about something as trivial as that?

Nicer how? If you're referring to looks or feel well those are personal opinions and I couldn't care less about opinions.

Which is exactly how we feel about your "opinion". Compare the Gen5 Glock to the Walther PPQ then come back and tell us about the Glock. The new Gen 5 is a brand new pistol that only looks like Glocks of the past. Hopefully the new version offers something more in terms of quality of build and accuracy.

The shape of the slide/frame is not an issue about using old parts. Te old ones won;t fit for starters. It was something that was missed and should not have been. Are they going to redsign the front of the slide and make it a Gen5(a)?

I have been doing some reading seen that the new Gen 5 G17s are mismatched and let thru quality control without proper inspection....as you may have noticed that the slide is beveled bit the frame is not.....these should of never left the factory like this in my opinion....what is your guys take on this? I don't think this is a mistake. It is the way the frame is designed. It has nothing to do with the function of the pistol. I have read nothing to suggest Glock is going to redesign the frame again.

If you like the Gen5 then you should buy one. They are decent pistols. They are sold to military/Leo groups at very competitive prices. If you see your needs in line with these two groups and can buy one at a competitive price go for it. My needs don't so I have purchased other designs which are better designs for my needs. I suspect most do the same thing.

You should read harder, they've already fixed the frame on current production units.

Yes that is correct.....but there are a few dealers that have confirmed that they will only be getting in the mismatched ones.....(most likely bought for a discounted price) slme are already discounted some are still regular price....the mis match will affect the resale value in my eyes at least

This is a laughable comment. So the M&P provides different "needs" than a Glock? LMAO.

You are easily amused so hold on to your ass. BTW who mentioned M&P's? Not in my post but I am sure those who buy that design over the Glock have a personal preference for the M&P which would make it a better design for their needs. Not everyone likes finger grooves or slides that crack or a pistol that has one of the worse stock triggers in a pistol costing north of $700.

I own:

Tanfoglio "L" 9MM & 40cal
Walther Q5 Match & PPQ M2 5"
M&P PRO x 2 one in 40 cal and one in 9MM
M&P FS 40cal
SIG 226 Mke 25
2 Beretta 92A1's, a 92A1 Compact, Girsan
Norinco 1911's 3x 45acp
CZ Shadow, New Edition, 75 Shadowline and an 85 Combat (the best DA and SA trigger pull of any of my guns thanks to Ken Soucie)
a handful of revolvers both SA and DA/SA

Note, none are Glocks. I don't care for the Luger angle of the grip so I spend my money on other designs. The M&P Pros with Apex triggers and the Walthers that are stock have triggers that your Glocks should wish for. They are far more comfortable to shoot in my hands. When you shoot competitively you want a gun you shoot well. The guns I own and shoot do that for me. My money, my choices.

What is laughable is your childish commentary. Not everyone thinks the Glock is a leading edge design or it's build quality is comparable to say a Walther, FN or HK. Hint the Glocks are not.

I have to agree with Bob on this one. Glocks are the Honda Civics of pistols. Overhyped and overpriced, with many better competitors for similar or better money.

I have to admit, I gained a lot of respect for Glocks when I disassembled my G43 to change connectors. Use of solid pins vs. rollpins (HK and Walther), no need to hammer on pins to slide them out, simple to change parts. They are still a lot more size efficient vs. Walther and HK (slide is not so tall on Glock). Trigger is not bad, not great, but not bad. If they had built the damn things with a less raked grip angle, I would have just bought a G19 back in the pre-12.6 days and not bought any other gun after that.

That said, I am very interested to see how the S&W M&P 2.0 compact compares with G19, HK P2000 and Walther.

I am trying to convince S&W to bring in the Gen 2 Compact in with a compact frame and the 4.25" slide into Canada. It would be just a tad longer than the G19 and not have the pimple barrel affect. Hell they could even engrave a Maple Leaf on the slide. From what I have held the build quality of the Smith and Glock are not quite the same as the HK and Walther.

If enough folks email S&W it could happen.
