I am still a little cloudy on the FRT thing. So if I am stopped by police and no FRT, how am I to prove that it is non restricted. Also as no specific FRT exists at this time for this model could not the RCMP make a stink and make it prohib or Restricted just for spite. You know what happened when the Molan Labe and picture was put on a VZ. Could they still not make problems?. And do we get a refund if we are left with a gun I cannot use? I ordered one but am a little leery now thinking of this.
The cz858 was changed to prohibited because the lab re-examined a series and felt they were converted full autos. Specific models were given an exception, by specific name, by legislation after public outcry. A very specific list of model names. New model, not in legislation as identical to the list names, means prohib. The named cz858 affected are still converted auto, but now there is an OIC saying they are exempt from prohibition. New model names don't meet that exemption. More about model name, than the Spartan logo.
A gun is either NR, R, or P by the Firearms Act. The Firearms Act is the legislation. The FRT is an encyclopedia of guns based on what they are as per the Firearms Act definitions. An encyclopedia is a list, not a definition, of things.
The lab has said, if they determine the firearm to be prohibited, then the manufacturer is responsible for that, and any ramifications of that. IE Trafficking prohibited firearms. Of course, that means the person in possession of the firearm would need to resolve that issue with the law, and the one with the manufacture of being sold a prohib firearm.
Given the Nodak and Armalite lowers, and how closely it does or doesn't match said lower, is what will be the measuring stick.
Will be interesting to see if this speeds up the lab though. If they had reason to be concerned, it would be in the public interest not to drag their feet on ensuring the classification in their mind is settled before production hits the market.
