Why is everyone asking for 5 round AK Mags?
Are these the guys who don’t actually shoot the guns and just like the cool look?

The 10/10 pistol mags in x39 aren't without issues. They are ok, but even with tweaks, 7-8rds seem to be best function.
That is the reason.
I vote Ak mags would be the best option...and they come in a variety of sizes from Magpul as well. The newer Gen3 AKmags get good reviews.

If there is a decent 5/10 AK mag I wouldn't care, otherwise the LAR ones work for me and are cheap enough.

5/30 mags are ridiculous, though I understand guys needing them for carriers

I beg to differ. I have 35 or 40 10 round 7.62x39 xcr pistol mags and they all run fine with 10 rounds with the exception of 2 Elander brand mags that 10 is a tight squeeze and 9 work fine.

These have been used in 3 SKS with mag adapters and 3 NEA AR15s

I don’t have a horse in this race as I don’t want one of these in x39 but I thought I would share my personal experiences.

An A2 sight will not work as you need the piston gas block. You could use a same plane BUIS on the rail along with a carry handle just make sure you get the correct matching height.

Well.. not entirely true. You could mount a clamp on fsb that is not being used for gas. Like an ar15 dissipator model. It just becomes a sight then, and is for looks i guess. Silly idea to me... but dissipator rifles where all the rage once upon a time.

Also, i think we need a seperate frt thread for these guys who wanna discuss. Dudes looking for info on the hardware can get lost in here now.

Yeah, I'm down with x39 pistol mags, much prefer the stanag on this especially to support other calibers with the same lower.

the reason is simple,,AK mags work,AR pistol mags in 7.62x39 not that great,AK mags are about the best in 7.62x39,,

Never had an issue with XCR pistol mags in my Windham AR15 in 7.62 x 39

Personally, I like the look of an AK mag....on an AK.....not on American rifles
