Shadow vs. Shadow 2

Some other considerations. People love the Shadow 1 so it is not like you would be disappointed. If you are not the kind of person that constantly gets the upgrade itch or is always wondering what that more expensive gun would be like, sounds like you would prefer to use the cash on other things. The 2 has upgrades, the most relevant of which (to the average range plinker) is the adjustable rear. The other modifications are probably appreciated more by the seasoned competitor, and even then some still prefer their 1. Over long term however price difference is not that much really compared to ammo cost.
 
I’ve shot the shadow 1 and own the shadow 1 Canadian edition that has been tweaked and polished by CZ gunsmiths. I’ve never shot the 2 but the Canadian edition is one hell of a gun. The trigger is incredibly smoothe. I’ve bought and sold at least 30 handguns over the years and this one is probably my favourite. You can sometimes find them on EE for 1000-1200

This is exactly what I'm worried about if I go with a Shadow 1 unless I really love it right out of the box.
 
Try them on for size, I did not and ordered a shadow 1, doesn't fit my hand so now will be selling it on EE, people told me to try it and I didnt listen! Never even fired it!
 
I intend to hold both of them or for sure at least the one I do buy, sadly shooting them ahead is likely not in the cards but I will at least hold and go through the motions. Hence my previous post asking if anyone knew a dealer that stocks both.
 
In one of the U.S. Forum, Some Shadow2 frames showed some failure. it was also mentioned that there is an updated version of the S2, its like a cutout close to the Slide Stop Hole. , I'm bringing this up because I'm also interested in getting one, between S1 and S2 for Prod. Optics Div.

So you tried it with the thin aluminum grips and it still doesn't fit?

I've never heard of a CZ failing, let alone a Shadow. Would love a proper source on this.
 
I have the SP-01 Canadian Edition and the manual that came with it was titled Shadow 2. Others have had the same. CZ contributes a lot of confusion between models which can have different triggers, sights and other small differences but still use similar names. Ie in just he sp-01 Canadian you can have different triggers and sights with the same name but different prices of 1500-2000.
 
I have 3 Shadow 1's and have put thru 4,200 rds thru the 2 that I use. They never miss a beat, fire anything I put in them. The only issue, is on one, the rear sight begins, "walking" to the right, so I've had to tighten it twice now.
 
I've never fired an S2 - I have s1 sp-o1 and love it. I changed out the grips and to adjustable sights late fall .. can't wait to get back on range to set it up properly... as it's minus a zillion here with wind, snow :(
 
If you want to spend a bit more: Get a Shadowmate. I got mine from Tenda on special a while ago. It is a tweaked version of the 1. In my book, it is much better than the Shadow 1 and even the Shadowline. The Shadowmate is extremely accurate. I am actually more accurate with this pistol than with my Swiss Sig P210. Personally, I don't like the looks of the Shadow 2. I think it is clearly a dedicated IPSC gun and as only target shooter, not for me.

Use a teeny tiny drop of blue loctite.

I could not imagine that it could be significantly better the the 1 can you explain?

Just the grips that came with it, the trigger is just a smidgen too far away on the first shot for a comfortable grasp/squeeze! You think thinner grips would help? I do like the look of the gun and feel, except the reach!

The thinner grips will definitely help! I went through the same thing. :)

Its on the Brian Enos Forum, wish I can paste the thread, if remember correctly its on " shadow 2 new frame " . Very interested on this topic especially thinking of getting one.
