Whats your favourite powder for your AR15?

Have loaded thousands with H335 (.16c/rd.) and have seen excellent results.
For cheap general range fodder or impromptu plinking sessions D4198 (.08c/rd.) has been working great for me. Rifle and carbine length gas systems (I've tested thus far).

I’ll 2nd this. I’ve been running D4198 in my AR with 55 gr Campros for fun blastin. Haven’t had a single failure to cycle my AR15 and get acceptable accuracy at 25 yds. You can’t beat the price per round!

For accuracy I use Varget and Sierra Bullets.

I'll be the odd man out with H322 for my campro 55s, I bought a ton of it a few years back during the shortage because it was available and I get decent results. Consistently 1.5 at 100 yards and 5 inch groups at 300 yards from my 18" AR and Varget is my go to for precision loads with 69 smk's .5moa or better it just doesn't meter well so I usually throw it with my chargemaster.

For those using the D powders, where did you obtain your load data? Given that it seems to perform well from what people are saying, and, it is very economical, I may well get some myself; but, I am interested in knowing about a source for data as well.

Just like they say, you use the same powder number (IMR4064 for D4064), start 10% lower then work up the load. Once satisfied you're happy.

I just wish they made Ditegroup and D110.

They do make D700X which is very close to titegroup as far as burn rate goes.... it just doesn't meter quite as nice.

yeah, I know. Decided against it as titegroup isn't really expensive anyway and to have a powder that measure well is worth paying the little extra. For the 4064 though the saving is worth it. The saving is larger and to be honest I haven't found a difference between the D4064 I have and IMR4064. Still working up loads but in the end it seems like it's totally worth it. Cheaper than any rifle powder and no need to buy a truckload to get free shipping.

Agreed! But you want to buy a truckload so you don't have to work up loads again!

I have quite a bit of BL-C(2) that I've been using up (New AR owner here), and so far it's worked good with both 55 and 62 grain bullets. I use BL-C(2) for my 222, so I'm trying to overlap a few powders so I can stock up and use for different applications.

recently I sat down with a copy of hodgdons data and loaded 5 rds with each suitable powder. I went one grain over min in each and used 55 gr cam-pro. Powders used were imr 4064,3031,4198, cfe223,h335,varget and h4895. Out of a 1:7, 18" nea barrel my best results were with the 4198 and 4064. didn't get speeds.

Interesting, thanks for that. Varget WAS my fave, but when it's getting close to $50 a pound, it's time to find alternatives.....

I have limited experience reloading for the AR but I’m happy with what I’ve tried.
16” gas gun, 1:9 twist, sea level.
Full length resize.
Hornady powder measure.
Forester Co-Ax press
Lee dies
CFE223, 26.5 grains
Fed. SRP
Campro 55 grain FMJ-BT
Lightly crimped into canalure groove
Results (100yd, 5round groups):
Thrown is equal to factory PMC Bronze or 2 1/2 to 3 moa.
With trickled (weighed) charges the groups shrink to half or 1 1/2 moa and very occasionaly hit 1”
100% function, worked the comp well (flat, neglible recoil) and brass looked excellent.
27 grains and the groups opened up
As always reduce loads and work up, use at your own risk.
