BCL 102 stripped receiver set thread

Anybody have an opinion on cerecoting verses anodizing.

CeraKote is a very durable "applied" finish but comes no where close to the surface hardness imparted by properly done anodizing. Anodizing actually alters the surface and penetrates the substrate, CeraKote is only a surface covering, like paint. Anodizing should not alter dimensions, CeraKote adds acouple of thou to the dimension of any surface it is applied to.
CeraKote is nice for hiding tooling marks and other minor imperfections in the surfaces, anodizing will make tool marks and surface imperfections much more noticeable.

Ill drop it off at Ramy shop. Not sure who he uses.

Not sure if these receivers/guns are considered precise enough for it to matter but you may run into fitment issues post anodizing. To speak to your earlier comment I would argue the opposite, 90% of BCL owners who actually plan on using their gun in the NR environment wont really care about anodize/cerakote or most of the other little nitpick things so long as it goes bang when its supposed to and shoots as accurate as you could reasonable expect a gun of this type. The guy who spends more time at the benchrest will likely never be satisfied considering in that environment it can be compared to every other ar15/ar10 that cant go in the bush. I do not have my rifle yet but im not diluted to think its going to be the holy grail of perfection. Im tired of hunting with one rifle and "fun" shooting with another and want to try a single platform for both. Maybe its asking to much.......

Im building a figthing rifle :) and will be training with it.

I dont print groups ( unless zeroing for hunting ) and all the components I picked should give me a 2moa rifle with cheap bulk 308.

The bonus is I will also be able to hunt with it :) and I have 250 rounds of 168 of matchking hunting ammo that was 1/2 moa in my Cadex so I figure 1 MOA in the 102. Enough for a lifetime of hunting.

I sold my Cadex to build this thing the way I wanted. And if it lets me down Ill go back to my trusty 270 bolt action for hunting.

Either way we have a NR AR10 in Canada.

IMHO, that sounds like the right fit as a real world application for this rifle. And still looking forward to your final results of the build.

My fulton barrel and BCG just got delivered to @####k in AZ. Now waiting on export.

The way things are going ill be receiving my Fulton order before my 102 set.... Hahahhaha

I'm glad at least someone gets it :)

There are afew different types of anodizing and to my knowledge they will all alter the dimensions of the finished product to a varying degree. Im not familiar with which type is used for 6061 and/or this application but it is certainly something to consider beforehand. Its probably a non issue I just thought that it was worth mentioning. Who knows....maybe the cerakote keeps everything from rattling on 102!

Like this one.

Properly done anodizing only alters the dimensions by a few tenths of a thou, so not enough for concern. Anodizing when done poorly can alter the dimensions by significant amounts.
We had 1 batch of AR lowers returned from a local anodizer and the trigger bows were paper thin compared to the .125" thick they were prior to be ano'ed.
I would suggest that more dimensional changes would be created by bead blasting off the CeraKote than by what good anodizing will ever cause.

I hope they enjoy the paint peeling and super soft aluminium.... judging them by how many tool marks they have you know they didnt prep them at all....

Im surprised the offer unpainted sets, Maybe those will get better QC since they cant hide the chitty workmanship with a thick coat of paint.... ,... hahahahahh

I feel like the upper on the one I received never got sand blasted prior to paint or something as you could literally see tooling marks everywhere. There were no or very minor tooling marks on the lower and hand guard or the paint was thicker and I couldn't see them. Either way the upper on the one I had was very poorly done. My Chinese Type 81 has less tooling marks than a Canadian made rifle.

Notice the chatter lines the whole length of the upper

Just ugliness f:P:

Also noticed tool marks on the safety

This photo shows what I mean where the handguard looks smooth and tool mark free and the upper has chatter everywhere. Although the hand guard did have bubbling in the paint :(

I’m very stressed about my pre-order. I read a lot of bad things about BCL on this forum. I’m seriously thinking to cancel my purchase! Does it exist a good 102?

I'm not that picky about tooling marks.
What I am picky about is reliability, I want this thing to go bang every single time.
That being said I just got my shipping noticed today.
I guess it will be here next week. From August 4th 2017 to March 5th 2018. 7 months

Well it makes me glad I went the stripped receiver way because it's less parts for them to maul. Here's to hoping they come out with some semblance of quality.

Honestly, if between now and whenever these actually get produced, if black leaf is able to get NR status as well, I might just cancel.
