Your Favourite Ruger No1 Cal?

He had several... give them a call. I briefly considered one as a baby brother (comrade) to my No.1-A 303 Brit, but went with an M77 MKII instead. I just let two Internationals go in favour of No.1-A's in 7X57 and .35 Whelen.

Interesting that everybody hails 25-06 as one of the most versatile chamberings yet nobody wants one in a no. 1?

I have owned four. My favorite before i got a blued 458 lott.

Only have one so I am biased. Lo, its a 45-70 and I love it and will never part with it. It's my main bear rifle and it has taken a couple so far . Picked it up about 10 years ago for $1095.00 from Epps. Looking at today's prices I think I got a deal.

My first one was a .45-70 as well...and it also took my first bear...and it also came from Epps...but when I bought mine (much more than 10 years ago) it was a hair under $400, and seemed like a ton of money at the time. When I sold it (about ten years ago) I got more than $1000, and that also seemed like a ton of money at the time!

I wonder...same rifle, maybe? Did you buy yours new or used?

That would be a cool one...

Slightly more practical and equally cool would be a .356 Win. I made a swap barrel set on the H&R SB2 frame in .307 Win, .356 Win and 20 gauge. When I sold off all of my H&R gear I only regretted selling two sets, the one above and a plinking set in .225 Win, 7.62X39 and .357 Max.

The No.1 in .356 Win will get done some day... either in the "A" or the "RSI."
