M&P 9 mm any good

ive got almost the entire line of M&P's and i love them but my collection of Glocks has grown.
i still prefer the M&P's but its hard to deny that glocks run through anything.
granted ive never had any of my M&P's fail either.

far too many choices these days, just easier to buy them all!

I've shot an MP 9mm at my range. one of the members was nice enough to offer me a try at it so I jumped on it. having fired a few thousand rounds out of a Glock I could say it was close to the Glock... better grip but the trigger wasn't as nice.... not that Glocks have nice triggers.....

Nothing like that GP100 you sold me that’s for sure. When fired SA it’s amazing.

It took me a little time to get used to the M&P trigger. Now I don’t notice it at all.

My Gen 1 M&P has been an excellent pistol. I shot it the first 2 years with the stock trigger and then moved to the Apex. You cant go wrong with them.

Just did my advanced pistol course. The only two guns that didn't experience jams or problems, including after 800+rounds went through them were the two M&P 9's. Even the heavenly Glocks and mythical CZ's failed. I've put around d 10,000 rounds through mine without a single malfunction with all types of ammo.

Cannon
What were the failures if you don't mind elaborating..

I had my first FTE with the M&P the other day. I was shooting the Winchester bulk, steel case ammo that comes in the brown box. First round of a fresh mag didn’t eject. No idea really what caused it other than the fired case stayed 3/4 or more of the way in the chamber. I had to eject the mag and pry the case out. The remainder of mags went without issue but I only fired another two mags worth so......

My 2.0 has close to 20k through it now. Just as a test to see reliability i didnt clean it once since late december, lightly oiling on the wear spots each trip out. Last week i had the first malfuction a, stovepipe, could have been one of my reloads, or just cause it was really dirty. So 8000 +- 100 rounds and a single stovepipe lays a pretty good teatament to reliability. Yes it got a cleaning that evening. Ill be trying the same with my m&p45 next.

I try not to clean (and barely lube) any of my pistols. I used to enjoy cleaning but when you shoot a lot cleaning isn't as fun, lol. I shoot a fair bit of 9mm per year and I find that all my pistols are reliable despite only cleaning them a couple times a year.

I just field strip, scrub the lower with dawn soap and toothbrush, do the same to the slide, and boresnake the barrel. Done in 15 min ,including drying time,2-3x year. I use a micro oiler for lubing small spots and done. And more and it takes time away from making more rounds to shoot!

Didn’t you tell me that you only cleaned your M&P after 8000rds because you got a stovepipe jam? No way I’ll ever leave my gun that long between cleanings but it’s good to hear that the M&P can take the abuse!

I'm waiting (not so) patiently for my registration paperwork to show up so I can take mine to the range and try her out. You can only clear the house in your underwear so many times before your dog looks at you funny. I'll give you a hint, it's a few more times after the wife gives you that same look...

Do you have your holster on too? That’s usually when they start to really wonder.
