I'm looking for more information on Production numbers for a Mauser 71/84 I've just purchased (yet to receive or I'd include pics) built by Mauser Oberndorf for Wurttenburg.
It is marked as a Waffenfbk Mauser with Regimental markings 121.R.E.4.224.
I've tried to find info on production numbers (I've seen one number saying that roughly 19,000 of these were built in the Oberndorf factory, compared to the hundreds of thousands built in the Danzig etc etc factories...
I've read that Allied forces bombed/dismantled the factory at one point during the war, destroying records relating to, among other things, production information.
I'll post photos once I have the rifle, but if anyone out there knows anything about production numbers, how many may have survived or still be out there, and where they stack in terms of rarity or collectability etc I would really appreciate it.
