First thank you for your response, I would like anyone's personal experience who own Colts, Daniel Defence or any other brand. Something right out of the box and ready to go. I know many prefer to build their own platform but at this point I don't possess the knowledge to what is good or bad, something of quality built to last for years. If there is a ban coming would like to buy something next week. Thanks again for the response.

DD and Colt are both medium to higher tier brands. Both excellent. Buy either and you'll be fine. I have a Colt myself. It is, by far, my favorite competition rifle.
Make sure your AR runs wet and it serve you well.

Many will suggest the S&W M&P II. It is excellent value for a lower tier build. And it will free up some cash if you want to dress it up.

If you want a good to go out of the box rifle, and you're looking in the Colt/DD price ranges I'd recommend either of those two, BCM is another very well made AR. Could go Colt Canada too.

If you're looking for something basic, no frills but will run just as good, S&W M&P15's are going for like, 700 bucks complete.

+1 for the s&w m&p15 i just bought one. tenda has the best price right now for them at 649.99 with free shipping and only gst. some walk in retail stores may match it for you.

If there is a ban and no grandfathering nor buyback, a stripped lower might be a safer option

Ok so how does thatwork?? Just the lower.. How does one register it when there’s nothing?

the lower is the restricted/ serialized / registered component of an AR. All other parts that attach to the lower are just unregulated parts. Buying a Lower is cheap, and registers you as an AR owner.

S&W M&P 15 is a no frills AR-15 and a Colt would be a higher tier AR, but don't get it wrong, its still a high quality, nicely finished and great accuracy out the box for most shooters, but its no Rolls-Royce.

i recently bought a S&W M&P 15.

i don't know about a commercial Colt AR, but my only experience with a Colt is the C7 and if the commercial Colt AR is built to same quality and finish, i'd buy it if i could afford it but its double or more what an M&P 15 costs

Make sure it runs wet? I see this all the time . Is that from the U.S. Army field manual or something or just a matter of preference. I have always only just taken a finger smear of lube on the bolt carriers rails and only any other component that has signs of metal on metal wear. Like literally 4 spots on the carrier. If metal is not coming into contact with other components why add to fouling build up.

Most former SEAL and ranger type guys on YouTube all recommend the same.

Thats what i do. Grease to the bolt carrier rails, the charging handle and sparingly to the bolt lugs. Thats it. My ARs run fine. I dont buy into the run it wet theory either.

To the OP you could get a psa from irunguns. Cheap and runs just fine.

I drove down to the local gun store I deal with usually, and the answer that I got was that most any AR built by a major manufacture all work and fire well. The difference is do you want a Toyota or a Mercedes, both will still get you to the same place. They also had the S&W MP 15 TS which looked pretty good.

I think it may have to do with the tolerances of BCGs. My Colt will run fairly dry but my VLTOR will not. I used it in a Match once and I pooped the bed as the gun would not cycle. I was fairly new to ARs at the time and did not even think my bolt was dry. It never had any issues once I doused it with G96 or Mobile One synthetic.
I have seen Norincos and S&Ws go down too when dry.
I agree that all you need is grease or lube on the contact points and railed areas, but I just spray G96 on now till the BCG is shiny. Works like a charm. Hence I say, run it wet. I don’t worry about sludge or dirt as I clean my rifles every time I shoot them so not much builds up.

When I say wet, i mean a coat so it’s shiny. I don’t make it dripping wet so fluid collects somewhere.

A very correct assesment. The S&W is a great deal for the price.
