I’ve owned pretty much every black rifle there is, including a whole bunch of unicorns. In my opinion the Swiss Arms is simply the best, and the 552/553 is the best of all. Fit, finish, and feel is second to none. And all variants are stone cold reliable.

I’ll always own one, and I feel sorry for those who won’t have the chance.

So, who’s keeping theirs? Tell the CGN community what you love about this awesome rifle and why you intend to keep it!

The bill in its first read still far from being law, keep fighting, call, write and email, Goodale, Trudeau and your MP, doesn't matter what party they are, heck write to other MP's like Scheers and Bergan. Don't give up if you love your rifle.

Well, you know I’m in.

I think I lost count of some of the business we did over the years.

This current bill is a done deal. It was annoying listening to CPC apologists blather about how hanger takes time. The LPC has a real lesson for them.

Al, that said, I can’t imagine voting for a CPC government that doesn’t run on the promise to reverse this current nonsense.

Love mine, keeping it. It's never been registered and may or may not be in the future. I couldn't care less about getting another stupid prohib class on my PAL for which they will stop issuing ATT's eventually, it's pretty much guaranteed.

The upper is serialized. I had an awesome one a few years ago and sold it. It was a carbine re-barrelled to NR by Herron arms. I miss it.

So you might not register it... but if you did regsiter it you'd worry about the att status?

Same penalities for ignoring either option.

I'm not sure--I went through a lot of trouble getting one.
But I figure if I'm lucky I have only 25-ish years left on this earth to enjoy it
So it might be good to sell it (at an affordable but reasonable price for me) to someone much younger to enjoy before the registration deadline.
Tough call.

Not gonna lie, I'm having a big dilemma and need more time to think about it. I'm not "worried" about the ATT status, I'm just not interested in having another safe queen prohib, especially when it cost me that kind of cash. My other prohib were bought in the early 90's and cost me a fraction of the cash even when accounting for inflation.

It's either sell it and recoup some of my money or keep it and hope for a reversal on bill C-71 if and when CPC gets back in power.

I'm sorely tempted to pick one up now...I've come close a few times over the years to getting one but never did. If the ATT thing would get straightened out I think I'd go for it...although I have a sense that we won't know conclusively one way or the other until it's too late. It's bad enough having a $250 Ishapore 1A1 stuck in the safe, but it'd be a damn shame having a $3000 Swiss stuck there to keep it company.

The legislation indicates the 12(9) rifles will be as the 12(6) pistols with respect to ATT. So, I’m under the impression it will be a range queen and not a safe queen. For now, anyway. But, when it comes to gun ownership in this country anything could be just for now.
