Goose guns

If Tom Roster told me to only use “brand x” ammo. I would. If he told me to paint each pellet a different colour. I would. The man’s killed, tested, documented and studied more dead fowl than avian influenza ffs.

That Mr Lamont is quite amazing. Hope his future continues to be bright.

first of all the 30 inch was a typo if you noticed I changed it , but you being in such a hurry to run another down you didn't notice that, secondly I never said anything about a side ways lead shot, straight away yes consistently, thirdly , I did say I will pattern my SHOT AND TAKE PICS AND POST THEM, FOURTH I have patterned my guns, with many different type ammo I just never took pics of it didn't think I had to, fithly , I do own all the guns I said I owned, and no #### you I wont post pics to prove to you ,just for someone to figure who I am and where I reside , for someone to do a B & E on me, and sixth I'm done with this conversation and this forum, go ahead post away

I take no satisfaction in running another down nor is it my intent I just state what I have learned over the years shooting and reloading the 10ga which is not what you claim to have achieved with the same guns and chokes. Again I am no expert
If anyone here has run members down I suggest you go back and look at some of your posts on this subject. That last challenge to waterfowl hunter was the one that got me off my perch and I said I have heard enough BS
You are scared someone will find out where and who you are yet offering your services for $550 a 1/2 hour earlier that I find strange
Anyway I fully understand why you are done commenting on this subject and hope we have all heard the last on 80 yard shots on geese and honestly you never once told us the 80 yards was straight away that was added now since I think in your own mind thinking back that was the only ones you ever did hit. I know for me it would be not that I would try it
Someday try shooting the opposite to what we did years ago meaning the farthest first you will see a difference
take care and shoot them close

Non expert in shotgun patterning here.

I understand the payload is bigger, but is there an appreciable pattern difference between 3 and 3.5 inch 12 gauge goose loads.

I am sure there must be published articles on this somewhere, I am just not sure where to look.

http://www.trapshooters.com/threads/ray-stafford-399x400.71667/

Threads like this are all over the place same with Patrick I doubt you have met either one of them?

Maybe you can direct me to a thread where they argue on the internet?

Or where 20 people talk about how nice of a person you are?

See what I just did very un Patrick like...

LOL
No I cannot say I have ever spoke directly to either one of them( not that it means anything) in fact never heard of Patrick until spank mentioned it.I love skeet not trap so stopped following it when my dad stopped shooting it
However growing up with a yank dad who shot, followed and attended as many trap events as he could in the 70's I was dragged to many an event and did see Ray shoot either the 73 or 76 all american I cannot remember
Regardless the trapshooters form you note and no I am not a member but if I followed trap today would be and seen as a nice guy there also since it it a totally different subject matter and would be chatting with these guys if they participate
I am a member of similar like the 16ga.com or the 28ga society for years and we just don't have topics like we do here to even mildly disagree on so there is no need to argue as you say
That doesn't make the people there me included any better. people are people and no one is any better than some one else. Plus internet doesn't do anyone any justice. Some of the posters that seem to be the biggest aholes when you meet them face to face are super guys. It is not easy to communicate here especially for us older folks
There was a time when I saved crests from these events but they are buried somewhere . In fact I think I sent one to spank since he shot at some of the events I attended
Cheers

Nice patch.

Point is a lot of guys like Pat and Ray are ambassadors of shotgun sports you and I and a lot of other people are not.

They excel at a lot of aspects of their life’s.

So does that make them any better than US. Shotgunning to most here is a nothing more than a hobby at best
They took a different career path that is all or where presented with different opportunites . You don't think members here excel in their particular fields and many aspects of their lives. WOW. My friend you sure have a strange outlook or have a lot to learn
There are people here that save lives everyday which to me sure places . No never mind I want to be like Patrick :)
Cheers

Some are big enough deals in real life they don’t need to be a big deal on the internet.

In the end it really means nothing in either place. We all get the same 6 feet :(
If you like trap shooters and what they have done for and in the sport. IMO take a minute and look up John Giovannetti from Nova Scotia. I had the pleasure of watching him shoot on a regular basis years ago and it just amazed me.
take care

This thread took a turn for the strange? We’d best continue it in the trap and skeet forum. Haven’t seen a AA box like that in some time 3Macs1. Its in good shape too. I never shot many factory AA’s, I shot Gold Medal.

Your right but the old guys don't hang there only guys that can still run them LOL
Plus we shot enough geese at 80 yards :) my freezer is full to the top
Cheers

2 3/4 is fine on decoying geese ---- as long as you give him a chance to shoot before you start sky busting with a 10 ga. 10ga is good if you don't want to let them come in -- never saw a goose wearing body armor.

We shoot lots of geese, mostly with 3”, but 2 3/4 works well too. We keep are decoys out to about 30 yds. Inside that range and trying for head shots (regardless of shoot load & gadge) will drop them well. Practice and have fun. Remember what you miss you don’t have to clean :).
