X2!

I put a Crimson Trace laser grip on mine otherwise it's stock.

I even had it on my ATC and carried it in the field a couple of times.

Here's mine. Helps if you own a Bridgeport mill. Yes, that steel is hard,
Match ready with trigger tuned crisp to 3 lbs with all stock parts except Wilson slide stop, EGW match barrel bushing, STI rear sight and Caspian front sight milled in. Slide and frame tightened up. My IDPA gun.

I'm looking at the Norinco NP-17 two-tone can anyone tell me much about it.

I looked at them too. Can still be had for under $300. but still just a 9mm Tokarev. Norinco's other offerings (for not much more money) like the NP29, NZ 85 and SIG clones are better pistols from an ergonomic stand point; the SIG clones are really nicely finished with great fit. Both the 1911 and the NZ 85 have great single action triggers, and get better with time. Both the NP17 and Sigs have a lot of take up. The NZ85 has a lot smoother double action than my NP58 sig clone (.40). I had to open up the feed ramp on my NP58 to get it to feed lead home-loads consistently.

Bottom line, get what you like, shoot it, have fun!

Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

With these guns all the same price which would you buy?

Norinco NP22 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Smith & Wesson SDVE Pistol
Norinco M-1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Girsan MC 28 Semi-Automatic 9mm Pistol

Yep, get what you like to shoot. I bought an NP17 because the Tokarev is such an iconic pistol. Although not two tone, the Blueing is impressive for a $200 gun (the 2 tone might sell for more, idk). I could tell you that for those who get what a Tokarev and a Tokarev copy is, they will appriciate the NP17. The ergos are better than the original tt-33 because the grip has a hump which fits better in the hand but for the purist, it's sacrilege because these are designed to be utilitarian pistols.

The other changes is a longer grip, a commie star on the grip plate (soooo cool) and of course it is in 9mm which is more user friendly, primarily because of cost and availability. Do the new ones have a hammer safety because I have an older one that does not? I prefer the half #### safety anyways.

As for the trigger, I guess I got lucky because mine came out of the box at five pounds, no take up and a clean break. A little gritty but better than some of the poly guns I own. It is a favourite at the range and surprisingly it is the gun that many of my son's friends prefer to shoot.

Norinco NP22 Semi-Automatic Pistol - never had one.
Smith & Wesson SDVE Pistol - gun was ok trigger is what it is..
Norinco M-1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol - just got it and haven't had it out yet but it seems ok..
Girsan MC 28 Semi-Automatic 9mm Pistol - great gun shoots good I liked mine..

I ended up with the N-1911 because I wanted a cheap 9mm to plink with.

The two to consider are the Norc 1911 (in 9mm or 45ACP) or the MC28

If you like to tinker with your pistols, or want to learn 1911 basics, the Norc is excellent. I have a number of them. I add a longer trigger to better fit my larger hands and I add a fibre optic front sight. It also gets a trigger job to get a crisp 4 to 5 pound break.

If you just want a reliable 9mm that works well without any fiddling, the MC28 is a good choice.

It showed up today and it has a good feel, decent sights, more a silver than a chrome but it does look good with the black grips and bits.

I'm hoping to get out to the range this weekend to give it a good try and see how it performs for a $350.00 gun.

I have the 45 ACP chrome pistol. The front sight was chrome and I found it hard to see. I filed the face off it enough to get to the regular steel, so I could give it some cold blue.

That chrome is thick and HARD!

I got mine at Tenda for $349.00 with free shipping and they have Blazer Brass on for $12.99 a box

Hey everyone, you know that SFRC has a 12% off sale every month or so. They also have free shipping on most Norinco products. Their 1911 is $339.95, so is the chrome version, the NP 29 in blue or chrome, the NP 58, NP 34, NP 22 in blue or two tone and 1911A1C. All $339.95. I picked up a 1911, NP 29 and NP 22 two tone during their last 3 sales. It was $340.95, total, everything in and to my door each time. Just saying.

Great company to deal with too. I got a NP58 during their family day sale (had a bunch of .40 brass that had seemed to accumulate and needed something to shoot it in) Also <300.00 before tax; all in $340.95 to my local post office. Great gun, really nice finish too; grips leave a bit to be desired.

Norinco's 1911 style pistols, right out of the box, have great grips; I wish they would have followed through with good grips on the SIG and NZ clones.

Just looked at my cc statement, I lied. The Norincos weren't $340.95 at the door. They were $338.05 at the door.
