Norinco NP29 M-1911A1 9mm Pistol

I have had a couple of 9mm's so far, a S&W sv9, a Girsan MC-28 and they have both been sent off to new homes, I now have a spot in my safe for a 9mm
and not really looking for another plastic framed gun I started to look at a 1911 9mm to fill that spot. I have been looking at Colt, S&W and all the bigger names
out there in 1911's. I started doing research on here and google and other places and I found a lot of people saying you can't beat a Norinco for the price point so
I started to look on the EE to see what was the going used rate and searching local and online and and bought a Chrome one from Tenda for $349.00 + tax with free
shipping for a new one, they also have a sale on 9mm ammo right now for $12.99 a box of 50 so I ordered a bunch of that as well.

I hope that this is going to be a decent shooter and from what I have read there are a lot of parts that interchange with other makers to make upgrading easier.

Mine just arrived last week from SFRC. It was $340 to my door. That's taxes and delivery included. I bought one because I needed a 1911 in a 9 and was wondering how it would stack up to my other 1911s. It is truly a great value at that price point. What really sold me was the chatter on the US forums about how the existing inventory or Norc's in the states are going up in value because of a combination of the ban and how people who could get their hands on one, are using the frame as a bases for their race gun. Something about the frames being made of 5500 carbon steel compared to all other steel 1911s which uses 4400. Hey, I am no metallurgist but it sounded good to me.

Never handled a chromed version, but the regular blued and parked guns usually can use a little hand work to take off sharp edges from my experience.
Hopefully they de-tuned the sharp edges on the chrome version before chroming.... other then that good value!

I have the blued 9mm norc.. completely tore it apart and rounded off every edge smoothed the slide all markings are gone (besides the serial) blended the grip and thumb safeties to the frame
Plan is to send it off and get it TIN coated frame and slide then mirror polish the small bits and barrel

My blued is a decent shooter...polished the internals..around 5# trigger..looks good ...well happy for 280$...put nice grips on ..that’s it..happy to recommend..mine has fed flawlessly..

The 9mm Norc does not have a ramp supported barrel that will make major loads questionable . I bought one but I ramped the frame and installed a ramped barrel. The chrome frame model has a nicer finish than the blued model . The frame and slide are tough but most all the other parts are not great but serviceable The barrels are nicely finished but the fitting is not all that great. They all seem to function well for the money its a ok piece

when I worked at a range/store, I saw every brand of 1911 break at some point except norinco.

I have a chrome version in .45. I would advise doing some fitting before shooting it. Slide to frame fit is tight and on both NZ85 and the 1911, if you don't remove the interference on the frame, it will scrape up the bottom of the slide. Also polish and deburr the rails, and lube them with white lithium grease (I use die-makers grease); it stays put even in tight fitting parts; after it's broken in and smooths out, just a drop of oil would do.

I found the trigger on my 1911 not bad, and it's accuracy is great! I also have a NP58 .40, and the 1911 and the NZ85 are my favorites.

If you are looking for a 9mm, maybe the NZ 85? I love mine!

I'm looking forward to when this gun shows up, it does look like a little elbow grease and grease but from what have read
here and the You Tube videos they seem to be not a bad gun that can hit paper.

And it does put another 1911 in my safe and in an affordable 9mm round so a big win-win.

I've had good luck with several Norinco guns and I wish the same for you. Keep an eye on that ammo though...cheap ammo isn't always a bargain in terms of accuracy or reliability.

They have 2 kinds on sale, one is Blazer Brass for $12.99 for a box of 50 in 115 grain and 124 grain and Barnaul 9mm 115gr FMJ Box of 50.

this is the description, it says the brass can be reused.

Maxxtech steel cased feeds great but in the first box out of a crate of 1000, I had two over charged loads; both blew out the primer; printed the back end of the casing, and swelled the case so bad they had to be driven out of the gun. The other was Winchester Forged; dry, gritty finish on cases, and did not feed worth a chitt. Wolfe reloads are great! Blazer is real nice too; both are re-loadable. The bad maxxtech stuff got me back into reloading. I shoot more and am tuning for the best loads for each gun; I am reloading for three Norincos, a 1911 in .45, a NZ85B in 9mm, and a NP 58 in .40. Of the three, I like the design of the NP58 (SIG), but like the feel and handling of the 1911 and the CZ clone. Likewise, I shoot both of these beter than the .40.

CCI Blazer 124 GR runs flawlessly through mine. The Winchester Forged is garbage, I get one FTE or FTF every single mag. I have another 100 rounds or so. I read somewhere that the case diameters were slightly off. I should get my micrometer out and start comparing.

It showed up today and it has a good feel, decent sights, more a silver than a chrome but it does look good with the black grips and bits.

I'm hoping to get out to the range this weekend to give it a good try and see how it performs for a $350.00 gun.

My .45 is satin chrome, and it is nice! Check for clearance between the frame and the slide, Norincos are tight and can have some interference which can cause marking on the slide. Check for interference, and spot in some clearance with a die grinder or a file and die stones.
