Looking for some idea what a Sauer AYA sxs 12 ga from the 60’s in better than average condition except for a crappy non original butt pad should be worth more or less?

Like I said above, average condition, made in 60-70’s, 12 ga with non original butt pad.thats what I know!
But thanks for your useless reply.

Saskbooknut’s reply was far from useless. What is useless is your description of the gun when asking us to do you a favour.

Check the Trade-Ex website for shotguns. They run from about $250 up to about $750 depending upon WHAT IT IS, CONDITION, and MODEL. Box lock models run less than sidelocks.

Sauer is a German company, AYA is a Spanish Company. Post a good picture of the markings on the barrels and on the front of the action.

The information you gave is very poor, and we can not read minds or speculate on something without good descriptions AND PICTURES.

Your post is like saying I have an old Ford / Chevrolet truck, maybe made back in the 60's. It has two doors and four tires, one of which is flat. What is it worth?

By the way, thanks for your useless post.

Basic information to evaluate a shotgun -
Make and model - we got Sauer/AyA 12 gauge - the most common Sauer AyA that I have seen is a model 65, a rebadged AyA model 107 extractor gun.

Condition according to NRA Standards - strictly described, everyone will then know what you are talking about

Barrel length, Chamber length, length of pull and describe alterations to the stock, is the wood all there or was it shortened for the pad, choke specs from the barrels
A photo of the action flats and the barrel flats will tell us a whole lot of information, the Spanish were very good at marking specs at proof, including barrel weight at proof which will tell you right away if the barrels are original.

Tradeex has recently had 12 gauge AyA shotguns at $295 and under depending on condition.

well bad on me i guess, was just looking for a bit of info and i'm getting a bunch of lets say different replies to put it nicely. listen , its a gun im thinking of buying, i looked at briefly so the lousy info is all ive got by memory. its a very plain jane sauer/Aya. it has 28 inch pipes with a vent rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers ejectors, selectable trigger, and for its age,50 ish years or more its in above average condition, bluing is very good , blue side plates, plain wood but in good condition, with a horrible butt pad that doesnt come close to fitting, in my opinion from what i saw ,I DONT THINK the wood was cut as its still around 14 inch lop without pad.

i quite obviously know zero about SxS guns ,Especially foreign ones, was hoping the few experts on these guns would just simply say " hey these arnt the fanciest guns going , maybe 300-700 depending on a few more details" then id had the general idea i was looking for. I do thank the few of you who took the time to reply here and to my PM

Hi Gldnbear,
You mention, vent rib, ejectors, selectable trigger, 28” barrels, side plates, good bluing, good wood..
This sounds like a rather nice gun as some of these features are not common on cheaper utility SxS’s, or there is another possibility. It is possible that you don’t know shotguns and proper terminology when describing them. So, again, we can only guess. The one sure way is to snap 2 or 3 pictures and post them here. We would love to help you out.

i know gun terminology very well instead of side plates i should have possibly referred to it as the receiver ,as side plates may not be accurate, but the description is sound and unfortunately I dont have pics to post.

thanks again to those who helped or tried to based on what the little info i put out. sounds like at 500$ its prob not a Barn find so to speak. so I'm going to pass. If anyone is interested its advertised on town post Alberta.

well again thank you for your useful input! why reply to the post if you don't have any relevant information or advice?

Perhaps a better question you should ask is "Why are people not answering my question and commenting on my approach?" Perhaps I was going to post but decided against it when I saw your first response.

well in general if i think someone is being a bit of an ass, i respond in kind, was he being an ass? i think so, but sometimes trying to get context out of a few words isnt always possible. I stand by my pissy response to his reply, maybe he didnt mean to be . i'm not above an apology if its warranted.
