Whats everyone fielding this spring for turkeys?
Im taking 2 different 2.5" hammer guns loaded with 1oz of copper plated 6 shot
First is a nice husqvarna 20b the other is a 1892 charles daly with linder proof marks
The factory full chokes in each give me great patterns at 30 yards. I didnt bother patterning further as ill be hunting woodlots where i wont be able to see further than that anyway
I did just recieve a couple tightwad chokes for my asena semi (.660)and a mobile choke for my ou range lender (.655) ill play with these this week for fun

My 13 year old just got his Hunting Apprentice License, so I'm looking into a youth model 20 gauge for him (and his younger brother)

He's used my Versa Max before, but not with a 3.5 inch turkey mag! Lol

As for me... I dunno.. perhaps my old Wingmaster. 30" barrel 2&3/4 Winchester Supreme turkey loads in #4.

Browning Citori Mossy Oak 12 gauge for running and gunning and a Browning Citori 525 20 gauge and a Hoyt Spyder compound for decoy sets.

Mossberg 935 fitted with a Choate pistol grip stock and a 24” turkey barrel with a Tru-Glow turkey choke. As 4n2to mentioned, these Mossbergs with the .775 barrels throw incredible patterns

Here is a pic of Hudson with a 23" Rem 870 in a Choate stock.... obviously taken quite a few years ago...

Last turkey was shot with a 1930s 16ga double, if I bother hunting them again I hope to get one with a 1928 Winchester 1897, 32in field barrel and full choke.

M-6?

All that camo, and a big black gun...

I have a picture of my and my hunting buddy from last year on our first ever turkey hunt, From less than 20 yards, with him leaned up against a tree in camo. Its impressive how effective modern camo can be, but the picture made it painfully obvious how visible our factory black synthetic stocks and firearms were.

I am sure many a turkey has been killed by a non camo gun, but the perfectionist in me couldn't sleep or hunt again until the gun was fixed...

He killed two dozen toms with that gun... never got spotted once, the gun is laying across his legs until he decides to shoot... pay attention to how many black things there are in the bush, the next time you are out for a walk... any spot n' stalk blackbear hunter can tell you that.

Benelli Super Nova Steady Grip 12 gauge topped with an Aimpoint Micro H1 for more stationary hunts and a Benelli Nova 20 gauge for mobile hunting or when I'm primarily calling for other hunters.
