How to tell if an SKS unissued

Yes, the bits you are showing are very nice, can we see the rest, love seeing non refurb unissued, of course, I love seeing most sks!

They were all issued. There might be a few in China in crates but all Russians were issued. Don't be fooled into paying extra. It would be like telling people telling you the m1 grand was never issued and has been in crates since new.

Be careful people,, don't ever comment on calibrecarstairs screw ups..

or else you will get a PM telling you to *##* off,,

I have successfully triggered a internet diva without even trying.

Non refurb is easy enough to figure out. Unissued? Unless the seller has a time machine and was able to sneak into Soviet Arsenal’s and steal brand new rifles right off the line, they are lying when they say it is unissued. There is no way we can know what happened to a 60+ year old rifle behind the iron curtain.

I also fell for the Tendas claim to "unissued number matching" BS. Definitely refurbed and the stock has been reserialed... however im still very happy with it as it's in amazing condition. Just feel a little bitter about their marketing scheme

I also got one of Tendas "Unissued" SKS, condition was 9/10 overall, really happy with the gun. Refurbed or not, I love the gun. Looks and shoots totally up to my expectations. That's what I got today shooting at 100m with Barnaul ammo:

Best way to check, drop the magazine, put your pinky inside the chamber then pull the bolt back a little and let go of it. An unissued will make a crisp *klink* while a refurb will make a hollow thud.

Yea exactly, followed by a noise similar to a cat getting its tail hit with a 10lb. Mallet!

Yes as the lads are saying, unissued and non refurb are two different things, black bayo is dead giveaway refurb, [ ... ] The black bayo copies I have are among the best refurbs I have seen, blueing is better than most originals! And the refurb was done very well!

I've got a '53r Tula, but it has a silver bayonet, looks like some sort of fine bead blasted finish. I'm pretty sure mine was either unused or very lightly used since it was refurbished. Not sure what the silver bayonet means though.

Different refurb factories finished them differently, doesn't mean much, some folks think the shiny ones are original and goldish color ones are special, I am not sure to be honest!

As far as I'm concerned the so called Goldish coloured bayonets are covered in cosmoline that has dried out over many years of storage and just give it that hue. if the bayonets are painted black thy are of course a refurb . and the same if the rest of the rifle was painted black . if you want a nice one then find one with all the original stamps and blued and you can either keep it as it is or shoot it . or buy a beat up one and shoot it till the cows come home. there all good . I watched a little of the newest Mad max last night . what a waste of time . I saw 2 sks rifles . one had a huge sniper scope on it and the other had the bayonet removed. that movie is a waste of good film . the chicks were hot .
