milsurp alert!! - check this out!

The Collectors in the US really want these 91/30/43 rifles and they got None. Something about a 5 year wait before you can export these rifles to the US - someone was saying in one of the 91/30/43 threads.

Yes, 5 years after they were imported to Canada, assuming you keep proof of purchase to prove that time period, they become exportable to the USA. Down there, these would be a $3000+ rifle on Gunbroker. Easy. There's a much larger collector community and no availability there.

My advice - buy one now. This will be a $2000 mosin within a few months. Perhaps the rarest mosin ever to be offered for sale in Canada - no, I'm not kidding. I ordered one already.

OK, are you speculating again?

To be honest Claven2, the Mosin collector market isn't too great in Canada yet. Just like the SKS it will only creep up slowly.

It won't be till they stop being available for retail and bubba has had his way. The later might take awhile. It's not like the days of sporter WW2 rifles. There are quite a few brand new guns of any caliber of your choice for cheap. There is no necessity to cut up an old military because you can't afford a new gun.

A standard grade Winchester M70 in 1950 was $120 USD. Which is $1200 in 2017
Surplus Mauser were $40 USD in the 1950s. You an get a new rifle for $400 USD in 2017.

In the flyers from the '50s they were selling No.1 MKIIIs for $4. Lol.

By my calculations it will be a while before they go up in value significantly... if we are still allowed to have guns by then :(

Yes, definitely speculation. Why is that an issue?

It's all hypothetical, but rare mosins often sell in the $3K range on gunbroker - such as 1907 carbines, non-refurb M91's, Chatelleraults with early features, etc.

I SPECULATE that these would be no different unless imported to the USA in quantities.

And yet, the semin guns sold out in under 24 hours and Tradex sold a few hundred "nothing special" refurb M39's at $900 a pop in about 48 hours.

I agree that basic 91/30 models are going nowhere fast in value.

Sure, but if you speculate it would be nice if you could be right sometimes.

The bottom line is that the 91/30/43 is a rare rifle with the experimental bayonet feature. It doesn't get any better than that.
With only 30 to 50 coming in to Canada and selling out in 24 hours, what does that tell you? Supply and Demand.
Consider yourself lucky if you have one.

Cheer up Polaris, it could be worse!

you are right, it could be worse, I could have bought three :)

Four months into the game, they still sell for less on the EE than tradex asked for them originally.

Lol! And my name was MUD when I sold mine for $1350 a few days after I got it.

I’d do it again in a second! Thanks for the hype Claven2!

The truth is if I had gotten a factory numbers matched version I would have kept it. Mine had forced match numbers.

Mines up on the EE but I'm in no rush to sell it. I love the gun, it's just hard to keep a nice gun in my safe that I'm not going to shoot. I'm not really a collector so it's kind of a waste for me. If I sell it I'll buy something else I can shoot and let someone else own it who will appreciate it more than me.

Pump and dump is the name of the game. You have to be quick though because it is not easy to keep the hype going, although in this case people are still trying.

If you want to 'pump and dump' something, you'd make considerably more money in stocks, ETF's, or bitcoin...

I don't know about you guys, but I buy my guns to shoot them and enjoy them. Or collect and occasionally fondle them.

If you want something that goes up in value year over year, save your cash and invest it properly after reading around. Waiting for a milsurp to go up in value for a couple hundred bucks in a decade so you can sell it seems very counter productive to me. Yeah, most of my stuff has gone up in value since I got it, but not by much and nothing that I would notice or care about.

Either way I'm only selling my duplicates, and I'm shooting/enjoying the rest.

Mines up on the EE if anyone is interested.

He will put his money where his mouth is for sure. Just tell him it's for sale.
Great investment strategy, LMLAO.

Better signal mayday mayday (the distress is great), there is already another one for sale for $1000, another great investment.
