Good war/milsurp movies and tv shows.

Can't believe no one has posted Kelly's Heroes yet. Best on screen scene of getting out of a minefield. A great star studded fun film too.
I also echo Saving Private Ryan, The Wild Geese, The Dogs of War, and Zulu.

Ok, 12 O;clock High, if you insist.

To really understand "ZULU" you need to know about the debacle at Isandlwana that preceded the battle at "Rorke's Drift". It was a last stand similar to the Alamo in that the Brits had nowhere to run. They had been out-generaled and out fought by the Zulus. Were it not for the firepower of the Martini-Henry rifles, it would have been another victory for the Zulu Impis.

Trying to recall the exact name, but I think it was The Lost Battalion for a lot of Model 1917 screen-time.

There was also Attack Force Z for some sub-gun vs. Arisaka action.

And Gallipoli for some SMLE love.

True. That movie is Zulu Dawn. Not as good as Zulu and not just because the British lose. Not a bad pair of movies to watch together.

Just started watching this BBC mini series on Netflix called ‘Our world war’. It’s BOB-ish but British from WW1. Not bad so far.

My Honour Was Loyalty. I really enjoyed this one. It was a low budget film but the story it tells really effects you, and adds humanity to those we are taught were inhuman ruthless killers.

About once a year I rewatch the Pacific. It’s still my favourite.
