Hello all,

So I just picked up a an Uzkon Trap semi-auto 12g shotgun the other day, and noticed something strange. While I am fully aware this isn't a firearm known for it's quality, I am wondering if it is even safe to fire like this. The barrel moves up and down while in the receiver, and will move the bolt along with it. Now this movement is only half a centimeter, I am wondering if it would cause me any troubles. The magazine nut that hold the fore-end on is screwed on nice an tight, but there is still movement. I noticed on the magazine tube there are threads right above where the barrel rests on the tube, and the top of the barrel sleeve even has little dimples, looking like something is suppose to thread on there. I know most semi-autos don't have a barrel nut, and just use the magazine nut to hold the barrel in place, but this one looks like it is suppose to. Maybe it's missing a part, seeing if there were a barrel nut the barrel wouldn't move? Maybe it's just poor tolerances and some play is there? Either way, the bolt still locks into the barrel, it's just that it moves... Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, and I can provide pictures if need be. Thanks!

That looks like poor quality control. The barrel can't be secured to the magazine tube if its waltzing around like that. Something isn't screwed down right soemwhere. Are you sure you're not missing some spacers between the barrel and the barrel nut?

I would also expect this. It definitely shouldn't move like that, to me that looks like a part of the gas system or handguard assembly is missing or in the wrong spot or something.

If it came with a decent manual, look for a parts breakdown and make sure everything is in the right order and place. If the manual sucks or doesn't exist, youtube it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am also thinking I am missing a part. Trust me when I say this, I have been doing a ton of searching and can't find anything about this particular shotgun. I have found other similar Turkish made guns, but non of which 1; have two threaded sections on the mag tube with those dimples on the barrel, and 2; have any other spacers or additional parts that I am aware of. Now my manual is very brief, but there is a parts list. The only thing missing from mine (the picture is of a slightly different model) is the part labeled as "m (recoil absorber)". I'm thinking maybe some molding on the for-end got cut short, or like the above mentioned, spacers are missing. I am still questioning those threads on the mag tube though... Why are they there, and why is the barrel dimpled like that if nothing threads on there? Anyways, enough rambling, I'll take it back tomorrow and see if they can take a look at it and compare it. Thanks again for the help!

On my semi auto, there is a metal piece the sits into the end of the forearm, on the side where the cap screws on. If you try to assemble it without that piece, I want to say it does the same thing yours does now. Its a cylinder that sits inside the forearm, with a thick lip that goes between the forearm itself and the screw on cap. It looks kinda similar in shape to the gas piston (J in the pic) but obviously is not the gas piston.

I want to say mine has that piece in the fore-end as well, but it doesn't come out. Mine is plastic, and moves up and down within the fore-end. It's what the mag tube cap makes contact with to clamp it down. Maybe that piece was cut too short, leaving a gap for the barrel to move, as it looks like if it was a tad longer it would make contact with the barrel. Still doesn't explain the threads though, if they do indeed serve a purpose.

Well, I took it in today and they happened to have another gun on display. It was in fact missing a barrel nut, like I was expecting. I had to return it, as I have no faith in Uzkon to delivery a part, haha. Anyways, thanks for the help guys, just thought I would post an update.

So there is a nut to hold the barrel on, and a screw on end cap? That's a terrible design lol I'd have returned it too...

You sir would be correct. I wasn't expecting much of this gun, just a fun clay shooter. I could have taken or leaven it, but it was on for so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Till the next sale, haha.
