Best .22 LR pistol?

Is yours picky? Fixing it requires me to look it over. The areas I need to see are the bolt and extractor. There are some subtle differences in 41’s of different eras. First production to 73 vintage are easiest to fix. 75-88 are hit and miss. Newer guns 99- present are more painstaking.

If it were really straightforward I could make up a kit and sell it. (Under 13 bucks) But the 75-88 guns were most prolific for Smith. And have a wider variation in tolerances.

I've never bought one despite seeing some "good deals" because of the pickiness factor. Your post was the first I've read of a 20 minute fix thought so it got me curious.
I think I will keep an eye out for an early 70's model!

I have only seen 2 votes for the M&P22 so I will up that to 3. Reasonably priced, easy to shoot and easy to clean.
I have one and really enjoy shooting it. Both of my kids do too. I haven’t had many issues with ammo selection and lately it shoots anything and everything. I suspect it needed to be broken in.

It's not that big of a deal to fix, just not for the ham-handed or dremelsmiths out there. If you can re-assemble a Ruger MKII without using more that 12 curse words, you are probably ok.
