Optic for new long range shooter on a budget

So I'm dabbling at long range. I'm shooting a plain jane t3 and I've worked up a couple very good loads to get me to 300 meters. I'm holding 1/2 to 3/4" moa to that distance using a 3-9x40 scope with duplex reticle. I had a 6500 2.5-16 on it but sold it in a moment of weakness. I would ultimately like to get out to 800 yards on steel. I already have Talley lightweights in 30mm low so would like a 30mm scope up to 44mm objective. Any reticle is ok and I'm not worried about ffp but would like good reliable, resetable turrets with zero stop. Budget is under $750 and I'm not opposed to used scope as long as they're in good shape. I should mention its a 308 and I'm shooting 155gr scenars at 2850fps.
 
just gonna say this, dont go super cheap or expensive.

Something like sightron stac is pretty decent had a 3-16. Held zero & tracked fine, shot out to 500m ontop of my AR for service rifle.

My shooting buddy's scope cost more then my entire rig, and with the wind (5-15mph) and sun we had today, mirage was terrible, we were both stuck staring at blurry/wavy targets and it didn't matter what glass was on top.
On a calm, cool, clear, windless day it makes a difference, but I have yet to enjoy those conditions...they don't seem too common.

I highly disagree.

I have a tangent theta, and while others are seeing mirage, i can see thru the mud. Heck could see bullet holes at 300m on a rainy overcast day.
 
Not sure if you can find something with the features you want for $750. I would save up a little longer and look at scopes in the $12-$1600 range. PST Gen 2 or Sightron SIII, possibly a NF SHV. For features I would go PST. New ones have good glass and a nice zero stop.
 
Surprised nobody has mentioned a Burris Veracity 5-25x50 or XTR2 yet. I have the veracity in 5-25x50 and been quite impressed with it. Very clear out to 1000 so far, simple, big turrets and price was $1200 which wasn't terrible compared to some!
 
Research the SWFA 10x42 S?S in mil/mil.

These are well within your budget.

The glass is good but the best part is the the adjustments are accurate , you get what you dial, also they hold zero!

To get this level of precision you would be in the $1500 range CDN.

Burris Signature Zee Rings on a Talley rail and your good to 1000 yds or more.

About $600 cdn delivered to your door, takes about a week.
 
There is the potential to snag a Steiner / Meopta / Leica at around a $1,000. All of these brands will fulfill your requirements.

I am a Sightron / Falcon fan, and they also will work well for the budget.

Wow, I didn't know any scope manufacturers used magic in their production, glass that makes mirage disappear lol.
Must by why they are $6000!
