Smith & Wesson MP sport 2.....poor quality!

^^^I don't know about fixing it... by the looks of it the buffer tube (receiver extension) wasn't being held still when the castle nut was torqued and the endplate indexing pin sheared the threads in the indexing channel of the tube. It isn't supposed to be able to turn off center like that. And what are the pics showing about the barrel? Is it canted off center too?

I'm not sure what's happened with my barrel. When I attached my quad rail it does not line up with my upper. It's only a few degrees. I put the standard hand guard back on. To my eye it looks canted to the left.

Can you take a picture of the gas tube/barrel nut area with the handguards off, looking towards the rear of the gun? It sounds like they torqued the barrel nut slightly past centern alignment with the gas tube and gas tube hole of the upper. Is the front sight block centered on the upper or is it canted too?

Here is a picture of the gap on mine, didn't mesured it yet. I will send an email to the vendor and see what they say about it.

If you bought it recently, it is under warranty. Retailers do not (generally) handle warranty issues. They refer you to the warranty guys for that firearm brand.

Contact Murray Charlton, the Canadian warranty center for S&W.

Ignoring an inquiry pertaining to defective merchandise purchased from a dealer is bad customer service. The least the dealer could have done is to forward the info you just did.

So you'll be taking that straight back to the shop for an exchange right ? It will be interesting to hear what S&W has to say about what seems to be a recurring issue with manufacturing repeatability. More importantly how will they and their vendors step up to make it right.

I've sent a few emails to the vender (3 total) asking about the gap. I did a follow-up call today. Was told its normal to see through the rifle. When asked how much gap was normal was told "no one was available to discuss this, send an email". I mentioned I had sent an email and the response was they get hundreds of emails a day and they would get to it when they could. If the venders are not willing to deal with this issue at all then they should be pointing customers in the right direction. It's great they have taken my money but now I own a rifle that I have questions about and don't want to shoot until they are resolved.

Is this the new norm for this rifle and should it just be a put up with it, it's a budget rifle?

I got mine too, from another dealer that hasn't been mentioned

Has a not as bad a gap as OP but still visible, mismatched upper and lower anodizing (the upper looks NEA blurple), pretty sure it's out of the same batch. Bought about 2 weeks or so ago and picked up today. Happy for the price I paid, but if i paid any more, I'd send it right back to SW and tell them to fix it.
