Beretta cx4 vs keltec sub 2000

I have the CX4 non restricted in 9mm. Have about 1500 rounds through it and not a single issue. Trigger as mentioned is terrible so went with the Sierra Papa upgrade and it is better but will never be great. Had a Vortex Spar II and it cowitnessed well but just replaced with an Eotech for better sight picture. It is a well balanced gun. Highly recommend that route. It is a great gun for plinking or introducing people to the sport and is just fun to shoot.

the CX4 is a tool and the kel tec is a fun gun (refuse to call it a toy). if you are doing work with it then cx4 for sure. if money isn't a big factor probably CX4 wins again. I bought the sub2k because A) Price B) Size C) it puts the pistol mags where they belong D) if I ever decide to buy a handgun it would be a Glock not a Beretta E) Takedown rifle that won't let me loose parts

Watch out for the recall if you buy SUB2K, serials on keltec website

Is this a serious question?

The Beretta has, IMHO, only two slight drawbacks: a spongy trigger and styling that leaves me cold. Otherwise, it is a shooter that never misses a beat, delivers more accuracy than you have any right to expect from a PCC and offers (again, IMHO) terrific ergonomics. It was my first PCC; several years and several thousand rounds later, it's still here while many others have come and gone.

The Sub2000 has exactly one selling point: it folds. That's it. It's a cheap toy; it feels cheap when you pick it up, and it feels cheaper when you shoot it. "Cheap" here doesn't mean "inexpensive"...it means "cheap".

If you are making a decision between these two, then do yourself a favour and at least handle them both; better yet, shoot them. The question will answer itself.

I had both the beretta and sub 2k to me both were range toys. There's no denying the berreta is a much better made gun. I just found the sub 2k more fun to shoot and ended selling the berreta. The kel-Tec was also half the price.

Load up a CX4 with everything Sierra Papa has to offer.
Load up an S2K with everything M*Carbo has to offer.
Then compare the price to function to value to fun factor.
Bare bones, the S2K will shine.
With mall ninja all over the pics and slots, CX4's in the dust.

please provide a link, I can find no reference to this.

Sorry, my bad. It was an email exchange I had with them. I remembered incorrectly. Barrels are rated for at LEAST 6k rounds. My bad my bad.;

"was curious if you could answer a couple questions for me;

Firstly, is the Sub 2000 rated to handle +P ammo?

Secondly, in your estimation, what is the barrel life on this carbine? Have you tested it for decline in accuracy over its lifespan?

Thanks for your time."

They respond;

We do not recommend +P ammo at all in the Sub 2000 rifles.

No, it hasn't specifically been tested, but the barrels are rated for at least 6000 rounds.

Check out the freedom ordinance fx-9. 9mm carbine, glock mags, non-restricted, built as a 9mm (not pieced together from an other calibre). $899 preorder. New to Canada but well reviewed as has been in the US for a while. Due for delivery around June. Was looking at the beretta CX4 until I saw the fx-9.

The FX-9 looks good, but the nice thing about the Beretta or even the KelTec is the "semi-bullpup" design that places the magazine in the pistol grip. It makes for a much shorter, handier little gun. The FX-9, like the JR carbine, the Thureon Defense or most of the others, is too much like a full-size rifle for my taste. That was my only complaint about those guns, and even more so with the Kriss Vector; they are all fun to shoot, and the Kriss has the look-cool factor in spades, but they are just too damned big for PCC's.

No experience with the CX4, but a couple years ago I bought a sub2k gen 2 for poops and giggles. Honestly I wasn't expecting much from it and it was one of the first batches that came into Canada so i figured if i didnt like it i could flip it on the EE at a small loss because demand was high. Also i had a lot of glock mags so that was a big factor.

What has surprised me is that ~2500 rounds later, it has never had a single failure to function. It's not very comfortable but as a gravel pit toy it performs really well, and I do really enjoy shooting it. Not a huge fan of the spring loaded fromt sight. I don't think i would ever buy another one, but i certainly have no desire to part with the one I have.

Kel Tec seems to have some really good conceptual ideas, but Im not convinced their execution and quality control is there yet. That being said, I really eant to try an RDB and more specifically the M43 prototype.

You hear accounts like this ^ from plenty of KelTec owners...but you also hear plenty of horror stories as well, usually about the Sub2K or the SU-16. I hear that the Gen2 guns are better, and I have been tempted a couple of times, but just don't want to roll the dice with these odds; I shoot to enjoy myself, not to deal with inconsistent quality-control BS.

How often do you hear tales of woe about the Beretta?

KelTec has models that have a solid, well-built feel about them...and they have others that don't.

ColKurtz, I agree with you about the RDB; my limited experience so far with the RFB has been excellent, and the smaller gun will hopefully be more of the same.

Purchased the CX4 (9mm NR) on sale from my LGS last fall, and boy am I glad I did! I put a Holosun 503 on it and it's laser accurate with very consistent groupings at 50y.
The only negative is probably the trigger (too spongy), but that is it. I have around 1000 rounds through it now and it really is a flawless shooter.
... I'm thinking of upgrading the trigger with a Sierra Papa kit, anyone have experience with this?
