Beretta cx4 vs keltec sub 2000

It might be interesting to cross-reference a list of those trumpeting the praises of the Sub2K with a list of sellers trying to flog one on the EE.

OP, for your own sake, handle both guns before making a choice. If doubt remains (unlikely...) then just re-read this thread.

I have seen CX4 storm rifles go through tens of thousands of rounds that had already gone through tens of thousands (prob total was 80,000 +) with minimal maintenance. That alone sold me on one. Not only that, they are (almost) completely ambidextrous, come apart very easily, and dont have a ton of components so they are easy to clean and maintain. They will eat literally any ammo you feed them without a hiccup, and are rather accurate to boot. The built in irons are awesome, and fold down for low mount optics. The ergonomics are fantastic, and the rifles are insanely durable. I would trust my life to this rifle no questions asked. The only not super awesome thing is the trigger. You literally can't rapid fire, and the pull is rather heavy. Other than that it is my ideal PCC. Heavy my ass, mine felt like it weighed 4 or 5 lbs.

Cx4 16” barrel 5.68 lbs. sub 2000 16” barrel 4lbs. Not heavy, but definitely heavier. Comparing them side by side it’s pretty obvious. They are both very different though.

I feel like there have been a lot more sub 2k’s sold than cx4’s. Sure it’s a decent gun, but I’ve personally bought and sold 4 sub 2ks. Not because I hated them or they didn’t work, but because when I showed them to my friends they had to have one. The sub 2k has a really neat minimalist design, the cx4 is not really anything special in the design department, sure it’s probably way more durable than the sub 2k, but it’s bulky in comparison. It’s price also puts it in competition with the ar type PCC’s like the fx9, JR, ASR, Evo, CMR 30 camp carbines etc., in that company it’s no longer a clear winner. I still have my sub, for now, got a trade lined up, mostly out of boredom waiting for my SLR and 102 to show up. That and I want an FX9.

YMMV, but it seems to me that there are more non-restricted Sub-2000's in Canada than there are non-restricted Beretta CX4's.... :yingyang:

My admittedly snarky comment about the EE lists was meant to imply that many of the folks selling them might be the same ones extolling their virtues in other threads. I wouldn't be hugely surprised to find that more Subs are sold than Storms; they are not only cheaper, but also less expensive, and that always attracts lots of buyers. Popularity does not equate to quality. Far more subcompact economy cars are sold than expensive sportscars; does that mean that they are better, or that their owners prefer them...or simply that more people can afford them?

Do a search in this site, or others; compare the threads describing various failures and problems with Subs versus Storms. I didn't even know about the recall.

I'm getting curious about how the OP decides to go; hopefully he updates this thread.

Sorry, my bad. It was an email exchange I had with them. I remembered incorrectly. Barrels are rated for at LEAST 6k rounds. My bad my bad.;

"was curious if you could answer a couple questions for me;

Firstly, is the Sub 2000 rated to handle +P ammo?

Secondly, in your estimation, what is the barrel life on this carbine? Have you tested it for decline in accuracy over its lifespan?

Thanks for your time."

They respond;

We do not recommend +P ammo at all in the Sub 2000 rifles.

No, it hasn't specifically been tested, but the barrels are rated for at least 6000 rounds.

thanks for this. +p is bad news for a lifetime warranty gun. seems weird a SAAMI blessed load would be not okay in this rifle, especially considering 40 cal is likely cut from the same barrel blanks

Cx-4 Storm will eat anything you feed it.
I had some light reloads that wasn't cycling in my 92 inox and I was expecting it not to cycle in the cx4 .
But to my surprise it ran 10 mags without on failure.
