what does a 6.5 creedmore do that a 6.5 x 55 doesn't?

Not sure why you folks are citing all those stats about competition shooting. The OP was clear about the use of the 6.5CM and the 6.6x55 for hunting and since this is the "Hunting and Sporting Arms" forum, that fact should be a part of the discussion.

As per the OP ......... Please note the mention of Partitions in the following quote.

With the popularity of the 6.5 creedmore these days I an wondering why it seems to be so popular . What does it do that the 6.5 x 55 doesn't do, or what does it do better ? I don't get it .

I load 125 and 140 gr partitions in my 6.5 x 55's and my load books don't show me any advantages in favour of the Creedmore. What am I missing?

If you don’t understand why it’s not reasonable to compare it to cartridges with 50% more case capacity, then there is no point in continuing this. It’s like comparing the 284 to 338 Lapua. I’ve wasted enough of my life on this thread
 
It's mother's day fellas. Take them shooting or out for dinner or whatever else they enjoy doing. Life is too short to argue on the internet.
 
you can get the creedmoor in a lot of guns you cant get the 6.5x 55. also the factory 6.5x55 ammo sucks which should take it out of popularity running right there. also if a short action is important to you you have to go creed.i load my own ammo in my tikka 6.5 x55 and dont have a creedmoor but the creedmoor for most people is the best 6.5 choice why all the sniveling from swede shooters
 
This thread has gone way deeper than I expected.
It seems to me, as mentioned several times, that the industry is supporting the 6.5CM much more than the other.
My choice of the 2 for that reason alone.

There's a few here that are clutching at straws to try discredit the CM, that is evident in the list of target cartridges, because the CM wasn't on that list they try to discredit it. LOL

No one is discrediting the creedmoor. It has been said by either side that the creedmoor doesn't everything the old swede does, it is just stuffed into a short action and has full power factory ammo.
To some who feel the need to make it more than That, it takes 400 some posts.

Do you sell more 6.5CM gear to target shooters then everything else? Just curious.

Have you read my posts, I don't own a 6.5 CM or a 6.5x55 or any 264 cal. If I was in the market for a new rifle I would get a CM rather than a 6.5x55 because I like short actions. I see an advantage that the CM has. I've also stated that the 6.5x55 and the 260 rem are excellent hunting cartridges, but think the CM is a better all around cartridge. It has a better length for seating long VLD bullets in a short action, to me thats an advantage. I have a 284win and a 7mm wsm which both have an advantage long range.

What really be funny is all the fuss over 6.5 this & that. Fook, the 6.5 Mannlicher Schoenauer dumped huge amounts of the largest game in Africa back in the day using 159 gr FMJ roundnose pills. We have plenty of bullet selections, cases & powders in the 6.5's to go with for our specific needs. Just get out and have fun with 'em.
