My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

I took my Walther KK MS (silhouette rifle) out for the second time today.

Left to right: .340, .195, .390, .352, .467"
Average size: .349"
Ammunition: SK Rifle Match

The Walther KK MS and Sightron SII 36X scope

Nice shooting once again. I added you to the ever growing (mostly because of you) list.

I took a French girl on a first date this morning. She may be a cheaper date, so to speak, as she preferred SK Standard Plus to SK Rifle Match. My interest heightened when I shot the first two bulls after zeroing but I soon made a mess of things.

Although I didn't have much SK+ on hand, we had a satisfactory first date with SK Rifle Match.

From left to right: .360, .421, .434, .427, .341"
Average group size: .397"

The date from France with a Sightron chapeau is a Unique Model 66 Match.

The picture is smaller as I forgot my camera's SD card and took this picture with a phone.

I had an Anschutz 1710 D HB and came to regret selling it. I liked it for its sporter stock and heavy barrel. When the chance came to get another I took it. I paid for it last Thursday and received it the next day. I swapped trigger springs to give it a 15 ounce trigger pull and took it out for the first time this morning. Once I got the scope zeroed I shot a couple of groups and I knew I had a rifle that was not too bad a shooter.

First target, left to right: .292, .245, .367, .287, .171" Average: .272"
Second target, left to right: .187, .289, .357, .343, .362" Average: .308"
Third target, left to right: .392, .341, .371, .265, .354" Average: .345"

The distance was 57 yards. The ammo was Center X (targets 1 and 3) and SK Rifle Match (target 2). The scope is a Sightron SII36.

Am I mistaken in that nobody has done this with a stock from factory Ruger 10/22? I've seen modified, but not stock..... I have changed the stock on my 10/22 but nothing else, since the action barrel, everything else is factory, would that classify as modified? I can put it back in the factory stock.

If you do It like that let me know/remind me so I don’t call it a custom. I don’t recall the details of the custom/modified ones that have done it.

I think I saw somewhere that his range has been closed for the last month. I'd be thinking about building a portable bench and heading out to some crown land if I were him.

Thanks for asking, Rod. Rabid is correct: my range closed unexpectedly on June 18. The berms, which were rebuilt anew in September 2016 have settled, and the CFO inspector said they have to be raised. They are 8-10" low on both the 25ish yard and 50ish yard berms and close to 20" low on the 100 yard one. Hopefully this weekend will see the work completed and the raised berms ready for reinspection.

I haven't been able to help much with the work as I've learned from the cardiologist that I have heart issues that require, in his words, "aggressive treatment". I've been retired only a year and this shows up. The worst news I was expecting from the doctor was to hear that I must lose weight and get exercise. My wife says to be more concerned about the health, but I have to admit that I've really missed being able to shoot (if you will excuse the pun). I've got rifles I haven't yet shot. I'll be learning more from another test next week. In the meantime, I'll wait for the range reopening and get the "light exercise" such as short walks that I'm permitted. Shooting and changing targets counts as light exercise, doesn't it?

Best of luck to you with that.

Heart issues are no joking matter. A neighbour who was only 62 had chest pains last week on Monday and went to the ER where they kept him overnight for observation and released him the next morning. He and his wife decided to take a break from work and go to the cottage that day. They were unpacking stuff from the car and he took something inside and when she came in from the car he was on the floor with severe arm/chest pains. By the time paramedics arrived he was pronounced dead.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. The doctor didn't tell me to put my affairs in order yet, so I'm going to be optimistic. It is a shock to the system, however, when until now I've taken good health for granted, having prior to now only been treated in the hospital for a broken collar bone in 1976.

And it is with optimism that I just ordered a new Weihrauch HW66 Production with a heavy barrel and a two stage trigger. It should look like this

A fine looking rifle there. Sorry to hear about your health, Glenn, I see that'll extinguish the though of hauling gear out onto crown land to get some shooting in whilst you await repairs to your range. Walking to change targets most certainly counts as exercise, I might suggest venturing to the 100 yard line for a more appropriate exertion level ;) Best wishes for a timely return to form for you.

Wishing you good health. Where did you purchase that fine looking “ exercise tool” ?

Nice looking HW66!. That should make for some good exercise on the range. Will be interested to see how it compares to your Annie 1710. Wishing you good health.
