I am debating on getting 1 or 2 more savage 10TRs
SFRC have a 15% coupon code going right now.
Works out to 645$/shipped to my door for a brand new rifle.
Sure beats the EE ads that are asking 650$+shipping for base rifle.

Once stripped of factory barrel, rail, stock, mag...we are looking at a 200$ bolt/receiver combo for future builds!

You don't really need to Change the factory barrel either, my 10tr with a factory barrel shoots clover leafs at 100-300 with my handloads. I had intented to throw a new barrel on it, but I'm waiting until the facrory barrel isn't so accurate anymore

It wasn't my experience, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to consistently cloverleaf.
To me cloverleaf happens sub 1/2 moa. All 5 got to touch.

Factory barrel was sub 3/4 moa, 5 groups of 5 shots in a row, which is quite impressive for a 650$ rifle.

Gotta hate those sub 3/4 MOA rifles for $650. With Nosler factory 165 gr hunting ammo the one I put together for the nephew was a consistent 1 MOA. I was so impressed that I bought one for myself. Heck, there are guys that spend thousands to get consistent 3/4 MOA. That's the problem I encounter when looking at a lot of the "new" entry level precision rifles like the RPR. I've got a $650 rifle that will shoot just as well as they will. I've got room to play with it as far as aftermarket goes before I even get to the base price of an RPR.

And yes, it's a good time to buy one, or even two at that price. It's a great time to be a shooter when you see decent quality rifles that will shoot MOA for under $1000

If going to use for mag fed rifles, I would suggest you give the Rem 783's a try. They are already less then the TR at retail and they will have sales/promos like every other brand.

As you know, I am a huge fan of the Savage SA (old gen) actions and will be competing with my trusty FTR rig this weekend.... but for mag feeding, some Savage actions can be very fussy in the extraction and ejection. I have yet to meet a Rem 783 with these issues and I am playing with a number of them.

The new shorty barrel option takes care of that horrid factory bolt knob and almost $200 less then the Savage before sales.

Just a thought.

I know.
That rem783 with a closed action ''looks'' more ridged.
If only MDT would support them more.

That's what savage got going for itself right now, huge support.
Contemplating making my actual savage 10TR the spare receiver instead of buying another savage.
Would buy an Ultimatum instead. For ultimatum pricing, you have an email inbound.

Am I missing something? ad shows 699. Is there an additional 15% off available somewhere?

I must be missing something.
The price shown is $699 on sale from $799.
Are they offering another 15% off the sale price?
Even if they are, that's still $672 with tax, plus shipping.

He comes from Ontario, they will charge him 13% HST.
Out of province buyers will only get clocked for GST.
So yeah, you pay 8% more because you are in the same province :stirthepot2:

And if I have them delivery it to an address in AB, regardless of whether or not I have an automatic mail forward back to Ontario, I only have to pay AB taxes...

In your experience, does a 10TR shoot better with bullet weights > 165gn? I found that with 147, it was not considered. Bought 178gn Hornady ELDX and groups were much better.

With ny factory barrel, i have many sub 1/2 moa 5 shot groups at 100M with hornady 178gr. match bthp.
I just couldn’t get sub 1/2 moa, 5x 5 shot groups in a row
Id always get 1 or 2 groups that would open up to 3/4 moa

Never tried lighter with factory tube, as i always reloaded to get to 900-1000M even though i never have the opportunity to try.

The big one with factory barrel, was low heat resistance.
To get record groups i had to shoot once every minute.

Now with my ibi barrel, i achieved my 1/2 moa self challenge, shooting a round every 10-15 seconds within the same group, with snall break in between. Tolerates heat much better.

Mine will shoot 150's but it isn't happy about it. If memory serves the twist is 1:10 so the sweet spot for bullet weight is 165 and up.

I thought the 10TR heavy barrel was less prone to heat?
