I agree on the iron sights... I am a stickler for having iron sights on my guns even when I plan to only use optics. Guess it is the idea of two is one and one is none. To that end I figure it is worth a try and any POA to POI shift will still likely put a rabbit or grouse in the stew pot.

Over the coming days and weeks I will do some testing and see how much point of impact change there is.

I am not sure how easy it would be to get a spare forend, but it would be nice to have two barrel setups for sure.

I will get you a picture showing the rail height difference shortly.

I'm the same with with irons. I don't think a POI or POA change will be insignificant enough considering the short sight radius and the effective range of the .22lr. I'm curious to know if the sight adjustments are enough to compensate for the short barrel being the sights are designed for 16" barrels.

Couldn't get a good photo showing the rail height difference. The rail on the Backpacker optic mount is 0.11" lower than the Nodak Spud rail.

Too bad you can't get the rear sight without a rail as I would go barrel mounted with the optic to keep some weight forward of the action. I know with my 16" GSR it needs the optic ahead of the action otherwise it feels "clubby".

I think Nodak Spud makes a rear sight without rail, I'm just not sure where to get them...

Looking at it I may want to get one if I could find a source. I think that would suit my build better.

I think I’d prefer the NDS 13. I’ll most likely go with a rail so I can have a QD magnified optic or QD prism optic option.

I wonder if a Nikon Force XR 2x20 would fit on the barrel? It's 8.23" long and has an eye relief of 9.7-22.4"

It seems to be the better of the "compact" extended scopes available.

Just heard from Nodak Spud, they can ship their sights direct to Canada.

I'll be pulling the railed rear sight and going to the NDS-13 rear sight.

A bit to high for me... what does it measure between the front sight and the front of the receiver?

I agree, the TacHammer rail is too high for me too which is why I went with the Magpul optic mount.

I'll measure that for you tonight and get back to you.

when i ordered mine i had to go through Brownells.

i have just the normal 10/22 takedown and i have a scope on it and ive been testing it out this last couple of months to see if there is any POI change between assembly and disassembly and so far i have not noticed any difference, or at least not at the distances ive been shooting so far.

Yeah. It could be scoped easily with the Magpul rail. Perhaps with a one piece cantilever type mount.
