HiTek coated through a Glock factory barrel?

Hey there I know similar questions have been asked before but I'd like to gather some opinions. I have just started to get into pistol shooting and own a Glock 17 gen 4. It has the factory barrel but at the moment it is getting TiN coating.

I only have access to an indoor range at the moment that does Not allow FMJ. I know that it's really not ideal to shoot lead through a glock factory barrel. I have been doing some searching and found a local shop that carries HiTek coated rounds. They are X-Metals 124gr HiTek round nose. X-metal says that they are ok to use in a factory glock barrel and I beleive the indoor range allows them.

So my questions are, do you think this will cause the same issues as full lead rounds in glocks?
Will it cause any damage to my glock?
If I can use them, is there any extra steps I should do for maintenance?
Would the TiN coating to the barrel make any difference?

I plan to use FMJ as soon as my situation changes.

Thanks

Jon

I shoot nothing but Xmetal Hi tek from my Glock. Ive put 1000s thru w/o issues. When It's time to clean. Couple pull thru's and some out clean. I shoot PPC with a old guy that shot 50,000 thru his Glock, All lead bullets, pre powder coating. Without any issues.

This was after 600rds.

Hey thanks for the confirmation. I was thinking it would be Ok to do. Do you use the complete cartridges they sell? Or do you make your own? Think the 124gr should be ok for plinking?

Thanks again

Jon

I got my first Glock in 1992. I put thousands upon thousands of lead rounds through it before the interwebz evolved and said you couldn't. If it started to lead up, I cleaned it. I have been shooting powder coated rounds in my Glocks for several years now, again with no issues.

Use the X-metal bullets and sleep well at night. They won't hurt your gun at all.

I wouldn't worry about it. I ran a few boxes of factory x metal till I reloaded my own. Ive shot over 2000s without any issues. Still using them till I start casting. Most of my guns are polygon cut barrels and never had an issue. I like the 124's, less snap than the 115s.

Awesome to hear thanks I’ll be sure to try some out then. Thanks for the info

I believe , and I'm probably wrong , but the issue with shooting lead bullets was with the Glock 22 , the 40cal one .

Not too sure honestly I am just going off what I have seen online. Plus the manual that came with my Glock 17 says only to use factory laoded non-lead rounds or something along those lines. But seems like the HiTek coated rounds are still ok to use going off of others experiences.

Like I said, I shoot with a guy that shot a Gen 2 Glock 17, and put 50,000rds of lead rounds thru his w/o any issue. Just clean it, before you shoot any jacketed bullet, or vise versa.
