CF Bisley Team

I'm in 1PPCLI and I want to get into competitive shooting, but there's no rifle team in my battalion. theres not much civil shooting in edmonton either, it's all in calgary. How can I do what you guys do, or am I just screwed?

Shakes:

I feel for you. Back in 2001, 1PPCLI had a super strong rifle team to Connaught. That was a long time ago. Maybe some Edmonchuck CGNutters can chime in and connect with you about some Service Rifle shooting. I recall a few years back when KevinB was in the Battalion... he had things going over there.

TTFN,
Barney

There is a bunch of 3 gun and service rifle stuff at Spruce Grove. At Genosee they do long range stuff and if you want to shoot combat pistol (IDPA) you have to go to Olds (South of Red Deer)

BMW, NavelSniper and a few others from the team came over for a BBQ of Friday evening, copious amounts of refreshments were partaken. On Saturday the Hoard came back at noon to taken out to the range. We spent the afternoon plinking around trying out the toys. Pics to follow later.

A great weekend for the boys to relax and good luck in England.

I'm only 80 miles down the road, come out for some summer Roebuck stalking. That I can do at only 40 miles from Bisley! You could be back in camp for 10 am having had 3 or 4 hours in the woods!

Thats a serious offer folks, My Grandfather was RMR then RCAF, His brothers were Cdn GG and RCN so all services are welcome. If you can get the time, an early start, I can take some of you deer stalking, use my rifles and have some fun on me! I am actually doing nothing this year during Imperial so I have the time!

BMW, the_Kneeler and myself appear to be the CGN members who are here.

Training is going well, tonnes of rain to train in and no sight of sun in th near future.

Quite a few of the matches have also been changed. The "Henry Whitehead" now has a 1.5km run in 10 minutes prior to the start of the match.

The Omanies, Aussies, Irish Defense Force, Falkland Island and Canadians appear to be the only international teams here this year.

We were all talking about you guys at Connaught last Sunday during the OSA comp
give us dates when your shooting so we can "channel our good vibes" across the ocean.

Well I jinked myself with the last post as we indeed had sun today, however at nights we need a fire in the fireplace and heaters to keep warm.

The Omani's are still at their game of shooting however they want to. They suggested the "Henry Whitehead" run be reduced to 500m vice 1.5km..... I hope they don't get their way!!

Did you bring your special "Shoot straight in the rain" bullets? How about the barrels that have a left hand twist to counter the rotation of the earth for the long range shoots....

Glad to hear things are pretty much "as normal", especially with the Omanis on the ground.

Your apartment is looking well NS, and I'll check it tomorrow after the storm.

Well with very little work up period, we ended up doing quite well and got a lot of media coverage.
