Say what you guys will, but the importer (Marstar as I understand it) will have prices cheaper than $600-800. Wait and see. Milarm is ALWAYS the most expensive re-seller on ANYTHING that gets imported. As an educated guess, look for these to be in the $400-600 range everywhere else. If sales start to slow, watch those prices go even lower (my "buy it now" price is $350 for the record).
I don't know how many are coming, but I do know Marstar owns thousands of garands in warehouses throughout Europe. From anecdotal evidence, they have spent these last few years arranging a very convoluted export process - import wasn't the problem apparently. Anyone remember the "sold out but comming soon" $200 Garand ads they had up until a year ago or so?
Knowing the US market, they were probably also exploring the idea of getting more money if they could get them stateside. No idea if they will send any there or not (depends on US State's interpretation of the whole Lend-Lease thing - CAI HAS gotten Savage No.4's in recently), but if they do, numbers in Canada will follow other recent Marstar pricing trends in my opinion (ie, a Yugo M48 is a $150 rifle in the states, but a $400 rifle here).
I suspect we shall all have to wait and see, but for the short term, we can expect to see a halt to the crazy-stupid $1000+ CGN M1 ads except perhaps on truely nice and uncommon examples like completely unissued Italian made guns, etc.
