M1 garands from milarm in early July

I don't begrudge Milarm from charging what people are willing to pay, but neither is there any harm in speculating on future prices, nor on suggesting that if one waits prices will deflate and they'll get a better deal.

P.S. if I may - I fail to see how another few hundred Garands hitting the market at prices similar to the few that change hands on CGN every week will do anything but lower prices. I'm waiting.

Marstar doesn't pre-advertise anymore. They will be up on the site if/when the guns actually arrive and are ready for sale IMHO.

And for the record, I buy and sell Garands all the time. I've NEVER maid more than $400 for a USGI mixmaster - though I have paid considerably more for a mint in wrap Italian made gun. Despite current prices, the Italian ones are truely rare comparatively and history will bear that out IMHO.

There is a couple of Baretta M1 Garands for sale in a gun/sporting goods store shoppe In Red Deer. the one in the cabinet looked in good condition , i diddnt make any enquiries about it because it was $850 on consignment .
Im probably gonna be one of the dumb asses who will pay too mutch for a garand from milarm simply because i havent got one and i would really like one . but when the price drops through the floor (as predicted by Claven) then i will buy another one . I was on the market for one a while back, slim pickins on the EE , then i got laid off and had to put that on hold and wouldnt you know it then there was a flurry of Garands on the EE the cheapest was under $500 if i recall. but they went verry quickly too. so the demand is there for sure .

I got one on the EE for $500 last fall with a boyd's stock, it's ok condition. I want an original wood garand, but plan to watch prices. AT least I can go out and squeeze a few off while I wait, thankful for that even if I did pay too much... but I like having it and bought in the 600-800 price days so I can't say I regret it no matter what I read...

As a Marstar nuthugger, you should ask them what their dealer discount is.
I think you will have your answer as to why thier dealers like Milarm charge more.
Milarm also sold VZ58's with 1 mag for what was it, $350? Marstar ever do that?

Say what you guys will, but the importer (Marstar as I understand it) will have prices cheaper than $600-800. Wait and see. Milarm is ALWAYS the most expensive re-seller on ANYTHING that gets imported. As an educated guess, look for these to be in the $400-600 range everywhere else. If sales start to slow, watch those prices go even lower (my "buy it now" price is $350 for the record).

I don't know how many are coming, but I do know Marstar owns thousands of garands in warehouses throughout Europe. From anecdotal evidence, they have spent these last few years arranging a very convoluted export process - import wasn't the problem apparently. Anyone remember the "sold out but comming soon" $200 Garand ads they had up until a year ago or so?

Knowing the US market, they were probably also exploring the idea of getting more money if they could get them stateside. No idea if they will send any there or not (depends on US State's interpretation of the whole Lend-Lease thing - CAI HAS gotten Savage No.4's in recently), but if they do, numbers in Canada will follow other recent Marstar pricing trends in my opinion (ie, a Yugo M48 is a $150 rifle in the states, but a $400 rifle here).

I suspect we shall all have to wait and see, but for the short term, we can expect to see a halt to the crazy-stupid $1000+ CGN M1 ads except perhaps on truely nice and uncommon examples like completely unissued Italian made guns, etc.

Marstar never sold VZ58's with only one mag - so I don't know. And I am NOT a Marstar nuthuger(??). I tell it like it is with dealers - perhaps you can try the same?

Jesus you guys!!!!!!!!!!! Just when I think it is time to get out, you drag me back in!!!! Thanks alot Steve!!!!!!:runaway:
Looks like JP has the new Garands up on his New Items list at P&S Militaria....

Get 'em while they're hot ladies!!

They must have Canada confused with the USA. About maybe 4 -5 years ago I bought a mint 54 springfield armory for 550$ and I thought it was expensive...

They might sell a few beat up mixmasters for $600 to $800 but the number of people desperate enough to pay that price is not infinite. Have to agree with Claven2 on this one. I don't think the Garand drought is as bad as some people think, there are a few guys on CGN that really want one but most of the desire to own one is probably driven by CGN as well. I bought one rifle from Milarm many years ago before I knew better and that was the end of my purchases with them, I later figured out that it was overpriced and over rated as to actual condition. I went to the store last year just to look around and the guys behind the counter were arrogant asses IMHO, I'm never going back.

These will all sell for their asking prices......$650-$800. Demand for M1's is high, and with dealers selling them now, this will allow people with no cash but credit cards to purchase.:)

"worn finish... many dents and dings on stock"

pass.

I'm mostly going to keep my mouth shut except to say, at the asking prices, I would expect a more positive description.

Both dealers who have posted pricing at this time (milarm and P&S) are posting an average price of $700. Condition on all rifles so far is as described above. We still don't know if they are worn originals or worn refurb mixmasters. I suspect the latter.

$700 plus GST = $742. Shipping is what? Another $30 or so?

At $772 I won't be buying yet. Your mileage may vary.

with the prices as high as they are advertised . im kinda hoping that the picture on Milarms website is only a library picture and not the actual ones they are going to offer , they look prety beaten up . No wonder they charge a hand select fee . its gonna take a long while rooting through that lot to find a good looking one . Will the ones comming into Marstar be any better ? the price would have to be considerable lower for me to pay for one in the condition they appear.
And according to the website they are US Garands .and it looks like there is 80 of them on the pallet .And my ceiling for one was 600 bucks for a good one .looks like im gonna crap out . Maybe a good thick coat of verathane or stucco would improve the finish and some black stove enamel for the iron !!!!
Barrells probably worn out too, i can see the bullet bouncing off the sides a few times on the way out . Aw well expectations shatterd .:kickInTheNuts:

These will all be coming from the same import lot. Expect conditions to be similar from all suppliers. There's probably more than one pallet of them, otherwise why bother with all the import crap? Not enough margin.

People put these superfluous toys on their credit cards? Sh!t - no wonder the economy is starting to slide backwards.

My sage advice for the day: If you can't afford to buy a milsurp out of pocket, putting it on a credit card at 18.5% (or whatever) will NOT improve the situation!!!
