IPSC Level III Shotgun match Registration is now open

if the match organizers don't know what the shell type distribution is 5-6 weeks before the match, that is a problem. I am a firm believer in that if somone doesn't know the answer, one should ....

I still don't understand. How does it change what you do other then take a few more or a few less rounds?

To anyone with the excuse that they have their BB but no equipment to the 1st taker I will loan you for the day 1 well loved Benelli supernova & shell caddies. I have changed divisions so you will not have to share unless you have a companion who would also like to join in the festivities.

Yeah. Shotgun folks are generally pretty friendly.

Any IPSC member that wants to shoot this match but doesn't have equipment;
Just post here and I guarantee that someone will lend you what you need for the day.

A case of beer is probably the most it would cost you.

I have the equipment but no BB...can you loan me your ipsc number/secret handshake/Masonic ring?

Hello there all you shotgunners looking forward to the match!!

Apologies for not getting to many of the questions in this thread before now but I've had a pretty chaotic schedule the last few weeks. Thanks to all the members who have already chimed in to answer some of the questions to this point.

For shot breakdown, we are looking at a total of 178 rounds for the match with 24 slug (1 stage of 16, 1 stage of 8), 14 buckshot (1 stage of 14 rounds), and 140 bird (spread over the other 11 stages, 7 to 28 rounds per stage). I will have several cases of buckshot and slugs available at the match for sale if you don't have any, but speaking this week at the IPSC Ontario provincials to Dean from Select Shooting Supplies (one of our friendly dealers here on CGN) he has S&B reduced recoil slugs and buck in stock and available for purchase right now. Buckshot needs to a max of 9 pellets, birdshot can't be less than 7.5 (ie 8 or 9 is fine as well).

Don't let the fact it is a level 3 match deter you form attending! We are very happy to have beginners come out to play and will have lots of available help to make sure you're good to go. Several competitors have graciously offered to make available gear for those that don't have holders/caddies so you can come out to try things before committing to a purchase of something you've never seen or tried ;)

You do need to be black badge certified to shoot the match as per IPSC rules, but hopefully pauls can make some headway with a long gun black badge program to get those not interested in restricteds/handguns an opportunity to look at getting into the game in the near future!!

And current plans are to try and have all stage construction completed by end of day Wednesday August 22nd (looking at you 7.62mm, banger, M&P40, sly mantis....)

Looking forward to seeing many of you out there on the range!!!

I'm a member of Crumlin and IPSC, have a semi shotgun but have not fired it. Anyone up for passing on some learnins?

Sign up and we will definitely get you some learnins

We are still working out the specifics, but at the moment we are planning to have pauls doing a shotgun basics course and skills drills session on the Friday evening after shooting. Details on what will be covered and how to sign up will be posted here and on the IPSC Ontario forum once confirmed

Sounds good. I will be going to Crumlin Wednesday after work to run some rounds thru and get a start to shotgunning. I will sign up for the match

If you are willing to go down the shotgun rabbit hole, I could possibly meet you at Crumlin next Tuesday, the 24th, and bring my meagre equipment, and share some of my limited experience to get you started. There are others that know much more than I do about shotgunning, but I would be more than happy to get you started on the right path.

I will gladly take you up on that offer
