Best 1911 brand/model?

A Les Baer is the best 1911 you can get for the money, hands down. Custom fit, forged ordnance grade steel and an accuracy guarantee to boot. It'll be passed down generations from now.

Meroh, i am with you.....my norcs are accurate, solid, and fun for the money. I HAVE done a few mods like smoothing out the rails, changing grips and some internal polishing etc. The ONLY thing i do not care for is the finish....at least on the black ones. The matte chrome however, is some tough stuff. I wish we could get them in stainless....although, the steel is 5100 chromolly tool grade. Out of the box they are still good shooters but a little love makes them a fantastic value. I am actually thinking of getting a second np29 and electroplating it in nickel just as a sh...ts and giggles project.

My 1911 is all satin chrome with the original black rubber checkered grips and adjustable rear sight. I never new I could shoot that good with a center-fire pistol! Really nice finish! My NP40 in black-blue is beautifully finished also, replaced the ####ty plastic grips; had feeding issues with RFN bullets, widened and polished the ramp and now it eats everything and is very accurate too. I also have a NZ85 9mm; they could have polished the frame better before bluing, but the slide is chromed and is perfect. Very accurate also.

I find myself going to the 1911 .45 more often than the other two; I reload for all three, and have lots of ammo, but the 1911 is my favorite. Lightly used when I got it, I have put about 3-4 thousand rounds through it, and the only thing that has changed is the trigger has gotten smoother. I'm thinking of buying maybe their "Commander" version just for fun.

In my opinion....Wilson Combat and Ed Brown ...with Wilson having a big edge because of its lifetime warranty and superior service. Ed Brown is a little cheaper

Man and nobody here mentions Joe Dlask, a guy who is revered in Europe for his 1911 custom guns. If you want to go to the best, or as good as it gets for function contact Dlask Arms and talk to Joe. He did up a Norinco build for me when funds were a lot tighter than they are now. I can't shoot a 1911 any better than his build will shoot. The only Norinco parts he used were the slide, frame, slide stop and the grip screw bushings.

If Joe was an American he would be near the top of any of the above lists.

Take Care

Does he even build them himself anymore? I've only ever handled 1 dlask 1911 and I wasn't impressed at all for the price.
