Build - Stag Arms Stag-10 CDN Rifle

Just returned from its maiden voyage.

Ready for this..... I preferred the feel of the BCL 102.

A couple of reasons:

1. I prefer fixed buttstocks on 308 rifles.

2. The ~1 lbs heavier BCL 102 just felt "tighter".

Nothing wrong with the Stag-10 set-up, just how I feel (and if I was lugging the rifle around all day I would go with the lighter build)

Note: I have a bit of a sore shoulder tonight ....


How much did that build run you all in?

Sure. Go ahead. Make me re-live this .... approximately.

Receiver Set, Trigger, Charging handle. $1,000

Barrel and Flash Hider . $1,000

Handguard . $ 475

BCG & Buffer . $ 850

Gas block (parts bin) . $ 250

Misc (parts bin) . $ 100

So about $4k or so with tax etc.
 
image.jpgHey guys, I got my AR10 reaction rod today and it’s a bit different than my AR15 one.

The 15 has two flat sides for gripping in the vice, where as th 10 is completely round.
The 10 has what appears to be ,a torque fitting in the back end.
Could I just grind to flat areas at the back of the 10, so it locks into the vice better.

Not sure if you've seen the video on youtube of the Brownells barrels extension torque tool. It's an old one from 2011 working on AR15 receivers but its the same idea with the AR10 version.

Ya , I’ve seen that, it looks as if you’d need some kind of vice .
And you torque the reaction rod, instead of the barrel nut wrench.

I’m just gonna grind the back of the rod, so it looks like my AR15 rod.

This is JMO but I would try the SR30 single port SLR brake to tame a bit of recoil on the Stag , and dial back the gas as much as you can if you haven't already. My lightweight BCL102 build is a pussycat with that combo, the single port brake is not very blasty, super light and short. And then swap the buttstock for a fixed MOE Carbine if you want lightweight and fixed. Running that stock on my BCL and my Stag as well.

It’s a heavy SOB, I’m going to change the Optic for something lighter and swap the barrel to a CFW.

But first I’ll play with her as is :)
