Im in the 26-30 crowd, my intrest started young at ~13, ownership started 2 years ago, ill be collecting more than milsurp for certain! The bulk of my collection will be milsurp though, ill get a STG 44 one day....

old enough to know better but still young enough to be dumb :d

Different way of saying the same thing. I told my wife 33 years ago (before we were married...fair is fair) that, thought I may exhibit maturity from time to time, I plan on never growing up. Toys, play, attitude. Full disclosure and she signed up anyway.

Oh, and to sour this with politics, apparently according to the latest gun crackdown attempt, I'm the bad guy. Sheesh.

Let me know if you find a pair I will split the difference in cost. Hahaha.

32 year old here that enjoys to collect and shoot a small piece of history and be able to pass it down once my time is up eventually.

I’m 26, started when I was 15. I was really into them early in my shooting career, and then got interested in more modern guns like black rifles and handguns. Then last year I went a bit crazy and was buying milsurps left and right, a trend that has continued into this year.

I am in the young end of things, though my interest started at about 14 when I got my first firearm (under my fathers licence) which was a SKS. He didn't want me to buy any of that 'Commie' crap, however he eventually relented. Once using one, he immediately decided it actually was a pretty good gun and then had to get one for himself.

Been collecting almost 10 years now, and its amazing how much you see during that time. I will say the price has gone up, and the quality/availability has gone down unfortunately though. Still a very interesting hobby, and there is some absolutely fantastic reference books being written and released in recent years which gives a distinct advantage to those who do their research.

my first was a no1mk111 that i bought as a back up bush gun for moose hunting.I still have it but its no longer a sporter its now a reclaimed rebuild to original military specks.that was 30 years ago ,i have bought and sold many surplus rifles since then and enjoy the hobby very much and have become a bit of an history buff in the process.

Very happy to say that I've introduced (up to now), not including my own two kids, four young shooters (18-25 age bracket) to the pleasure of milsurp collecting. (they are officially addicted now).

As far as my age goes, I'll simply say that I'm sort of middle of the pack in this poll. ish. like maybe slightly towards the older side. Maybe. :)

For some time I have been selling or trading some of my WWII American or German pieces.
My WWII trades have been for U.S. Civil War era pieces.
I have also found that $100 bills played a major part in this equation where a Civil War (antique) trade item was not involved.

Will be buying my first SKS this week. Not sure why I waited so long. Look forward to adding to the collection. Mid 40s and hoping my kids get into it as well.

45 and been it to it for about 14 years. Wished I had started sooner. Tell my wife that that's my retirement fund. Most have went up in value. Some I bought high just because I wanted them. Some I've got lucky that there value went up. Not ready to get out anytime soon.

Maybe my interests will shift this way, but I'm a long ways off from old. I'll get there eventually, but it'll take sixty years.

Could be. I've owned guns for the last 60 years and have learned that they don't put gun racks in a hearse.:eek:Let's hope the young fellers have 60 years to enjoy the hobby, but the political winds are not at our back.

Quick review shows that 50 % of collectors are 45 or younger and a third are 35 or younger. Seems to be good news for the milsurp collector community.

Let's all keep in mind that this is a small survey though.
