I know that all MPX's regardless of Pistol or Carbine configuration come with 5 round riveted mags.

For those who own pistol registered MPX's, are you able to re-pin the mags to 10? or order the 10/20's that are available?

The mag fits both carbine and pistol. So the lowest common denominator is used. 5 rounds regardless of what you have

Pretty sure the answer is no, if you could buy them pinned to 10 and marked as pistol they would be legal but I'm 99.99% sure you can't take a 5 round mag and make it hold 10 regardless of the rifle/pistol it's used in.

I would email the overlords and ask them, if you can get it in writing you've at least got something to show the officer when you're being arrested.

This is why I bought a Vector even though I'd rather have the Sig.

Funny looks from people who actually care..

Frankly, I'd just smile - I'm starting to get a little too old for Bullsh*t for the sake of Bullsh*t.

I hate quoting the opposition but “law abiding until they’re not” comes to mind. I don’t care if you think it, I know we all hate Canadian firearms laws (I sure do), but maybe we shouldn’t post about how we don’t care if ourselves or others break those laws?

This is the answer, for me...Waiting on the APC/GHM9 GLOCK Mag Lower version.

Its uglier, IMO, but mags are probably a lot cheaper, and 10rds is way better than 5.

Sorry to derail your MPX thread. They are nice guns. and the mags are really nice too, but 5rds is painfully boring for a 9mm for me.

Edit: "but 5rds is painfully boring for a 9mm for me." I meant to say, I get tired of practicing reloading instead of shooting.

No one said anything about breaking laws, with all due respect - what was said was that there is (finally!) an increasing propensity to call-out bullsh!t laws as being "bullsh!t laws".

There is no law against calling a bullsh!t law "a bullsh!t law", and so calling a bullsh!t law "a bullsh!t law" is a perfectly legal and "even" forum-permissible thing to do. :yingyang:

There is no law or rule that says we must worship and love and admire and cherish the "bullsh!t laws" shoved down our throats; and so it goes....

The intent was that at the range I don't care what others are doing as in I don't pay attention or round count. It's neither my job nor my desire to monitor the actions of others. If they're safe then they're good to go.

As many accountants like to say, it's not the accountant's job to do the Canada Revenue Agency's job for them. :yingyang:

If Im not mistaken, certain individuals can have Prohibited Device Licenses and can lawfully use unpinned mags at the ranges. so not everyone is equal and not assume they are breaking the law.

Fair enough, my bad for not fully understanding what you meant. And you’re right, as long as people are safe I’ll mind my own business.

Yeah I suppose that’s true, probably rare but still something to consider.

And to be clear I think the laws are ridiculous, a criminal would just unpin the mag anyways if they wanted full capacity.

One of my friends is licenced to manufacture and test prohibited firearms and devices, I Iove going shooting with him. He has the best toys, full auto 30 rounds suppressed is fun :)
We should all be allowed as long as we abide the laws but unfortunately the overlords don't think we can handle it and think we'll all turn into robbers and rapists if we got to have toys like those or magazines that held more than five rounds. Thank goodness for those rivets.

When one of the gun orgs starts fighting our magazine capacity laws or to make the AR-15 non restricted if it has a long enough barrel I'll start donating again.

This is what the FRT entry says:

"the magazine that accompanies the SIG MPX Pistol is a proprietary polymer 20 round cartridge magazine that was designed and manufactured for the SIG MPX
submachine gun. In Canada, the magazine for a SIG MPX submachine gun is subject to a magazine capacity restriction of five (5) 9mm LUGER cartridges.
- as a result, these magazines meet the Criminal Code definition of a "prohibited device" if they contain more than five (5) 9MM LUGER cartridges. See part 4, para
(3)(1)(a)(iii) of the Criminal Code."

There does not seem to be any ambiguity, so repinning or importing 10 round "California" mags is playing with FIRE.

Sig really needs to get the 8" MPX reclassified as a pistol. It would be surprising if they are not working on that.

By the way, the 8" MPX is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Criminals would absolutely not unpin a magazine.:p;)

I am fully responsible for my own actions, and my own decisions - not anyone else's. When you grow up in a dangerous neighbourhood, you learn not to see things.
